ASL signers - help wanted!

Nov 18, 2007 20:26

To the few people on my friends list who:

a) use ASL as their primary language,

and

b) haven't seen this yet, even though it's been cross-posted shamefully ...

I'm looking for people to participate in a study I'm running, which looks at newly-created signs.*  As part of this study, you will watch video clips of signs and rate them on a scale of 1 to ( Read more... )

Hi - I wouldn't be a good candidate to take this survey myself but would it be helpful if I sent it to my (Deaf) ASL teacher? It seems like something he'd be interested in, and it sounds like you need some more volunteers.

That would be really helpful; for some reason I have *no* guy-type respondents yet. (I don't really expect there to be a difference, but it always looks weird when literally 100% of your respondents are of the same gender in a non-gendery experiment. *grin*)

Thank you so much!

Hi Maeve, I'll pass this on to my b/f and see if he feels like doing it (he's staying with me next week so I can apply a bit of pressure!)

If I can get him to sit still long enough to take the quiz, he's reknowned for his low boredom threshold, he may be able to recruit some others along the way (both his sisters are deaf and he is a person of significance in his local Deaf community).

That would be really nice of you, thanks. As I mentioned to Ty above, for some reason I have 100% female respondents right now, so your boyfriend would be a nice addition. :c)

It would also be helpful if he could take it sometime this week. I'm going to try writing up a draft over the long weekend, and although I can always re-run the numbers if I get more respondents later, I'm kind of eager to see as much of the real results as soon as possible! (yes, I stayed up half the night refreshing the "analyze results" button on SurveyMonkey ... so? *grin*)

wish i could help, but i am a primary english/spoken language user, and my sign is rusty....

In the immortal words of Cabaret, "Bring on the men!"

(In other words, um, yes please, that would be nice. *smile*)

emailed them. will also tell mom and dad to pass it on to the local community. dad and brother have loads of contacts, but brother is currently out of town on vacation.

gah, i just re-read that last paragraph, anyone with deaf expertise can probably tell i was raised in the deaf community.. (sigh)

good luck with your survey/ study
