On the computer I have it set so that it only goes on after a longngngn while, maybe 10 minutes maybe 20 whatever. If that would become a bother I would extend the time as much as needed, after that I would follow your style.
On the phone though you can be thinking about your next word or sentence, and then sudennly the text that you are basing that next step on, and looking at for support in your thinking, switches off. That is frustrating ... you always, no matter how hard you are thinking, have to have one little strand of thought ready to control the scroll up or down before the system goes off; most wasteful of brainpower.
