Health/Weight

In the last few years I've pretty much let my health and body go to crap. There were a lot of contributing factors, including dealing with illness this past year, but if I'm honest I have to say that there were some lifestyle choices that were fully in my control - and I abdicated responsibility for those ( Read more... )

That's great, M! I've made some recent changes as well, from eating habits to adding pilates and conditioning. It's a big commitment but I've found that the longer I work at things the more steadfast my motivation is. I wish you plenty, and good luck.

Please to be sharing your tips for letting go of Starbucks. I've cut my Sbux stops in half, but it's so addicting.

I hear you on the addicting - I work in a bookstore with a Starbucks inside. AND I get the staff discount. o.O

But I decided that I will put the money I save directly into the makeup/BPAL fund. That's motivation enough. ;) (Plus looking at the actual calorie/sugar/fat content? Horrifying!)

Dude, excellent. We don't even have an Sbux, and I've found cutting back on coffees... gah, it's hard. There's something very satisfying about the ritual - probably b/c I don't take actual breaks/lunches, it's a quick moment to regroup (with whipped cream).

Ya, I would often sub a real lunch for a Chai Latte and a banana bread slice. That's like, 700 calories right there. DUDE. When I broke it down like that, it was so obvious why I was not at my fighting weight, you know?

I'm always looking for a decent caloric counter - I never know what's accurate/necessary. :p (Basically, when I am active enough to keep my blood sugar stable, I seem to burn through a lot. No clue what's normal.) It's sort of awful that convenient + satisfying always seems to equal a nutritional deficit. Like, empty calories? Especially when I think we'd be just as happy/satisfied to do a Real Lunch loaded with local/oganic/seasonal veg. Guh, the lifestyle thing just sucks.
