You've tantalised us today with a lovely fine, sunny day with a maximum of 21C, and just as the weekend is starting, what do you do?  You give us more rain ( Read more... )

Isn't rain usual there in the spring? Or is Perth more like a lot California: it pretty much rains only in the winter, then sunny the rest of the year?

Yes, we do usually get rain in spring (and to be truthful, we need every drop we can get!). However, the seasons are getting later and later, so we're still getting wintry weather.

Last year my freesias bloomed two weeks earlier and the year before, a week earlier than that. The same goes for the jasmine and other plants. If I didn't have the rather extensive photo record that I do, I wouldn't have realised just how far "behind" the season has become.

It does normally continue to rain on and off until November; I'm just moaning that it's been rather continuous, and that I'd like to have some nice sunny weather for my holidays next week! Unfortunately we can't control the weather, so I'll just have to accept what we get!

Yes, long periods of rainy weather can be awfully depressing. But spring and sun are on their way. :)

Today turned out to be mainly fine. It just rained once. Of course it happened while we were cooking on the barbecue. Luckily we'd brought the barbecue under the carport just for that very reason.

We had a great day with both sons and future daughter-in-law over for lunch. It's really good to have all of the family together at the same time.

I know what you mean, I sometimes find that a problem with spring, too. You get all hopeful and excited, and then - wham! - it's all crushed for days or even weeks.
It's still early days for spring down there, though, isn't it? :)

*anti-gloom hugs*

:D

(Btw, teensy-weensy thing, sorry I can't help it: native speakers mix it up a lot, but "wherefore" is not just some odd form or so of "where". It means "why". So your title is actually questioning the reason for the existence of spring... ;) )

Thank you for the hugs! They're much appreciated.

Thank you for the tip! I was just trying to wax poetic! I really had no idea of the correct meaning of the word! LOL!
