A retrospective view on the University Of Teessides martial arts programs. It would seem that its difficult to find a decent one. Iaido sounds pretty good from what I've heard but there's a French guy that knows less than he's letting on ( Read more... )

For me, Kung Fu soc just seems to be the fuck-around-fu soc. Unless they've changed in the past two years, they were very laid back and informal and just said "Right, who wants to do some flashy shit? Breakboards, nunchucka and bo-staffs? Off you go then!"

I've heard of nothing but total alpha-male faggotry coming from the JKD soc, it seems to only attract the huge, braindead violent fuckers. But at least their teacher isn't a condescending japanophile asshole like the Aikido guy.

Hapkido was probably the best martial arts soc I went to, you learn grapples and manipulations, TKD-kicking and Bo-staff, nice variety of stuff and the members weren't horrible malfunctions of DNA, oh and Master Kim was simply :ninja:

Kung-fu seems to mostly be self taught when I've been down there, and completly flashy.

Iaido has no basis in self-defence. Also, Erwan shouldn't have been teaching (none of us should really, save Tim), has been put in his place a few times, and also not training anymore.

JKD is based in winning the fight.
I did my knee in pretty much the same way you got your ankle damaged.
But what were you doing with Nick that meant he put you in a leg lock?
