I didn't get the DoT job.

I got a letter in the mail saying something to the tune of "Although you were not selected, you are encouraged to apply for other jobs with us..."I'm a little miffed that I wasn't even interviewed, but I take solace in that it probably means they already had someone picked out for the job and were just posting it for ( Read more... )

Are you really serious about the Coast Guard Reserve? Do they have training in Galveston or Beaumont? Where would you go for your drilling? And do you really want to be in the "Other Navy"?

Quite serious. I've been considering it for awhile. My mom was in the Coast Guard Reserve when I was in my teens, and I've talked with her quite a bit about it. They have a program or three I'm interested in.

I'd probably go to Galveston, altohugh I could get Port Arthur or Sabine Pass.

And yes, I'm fine with the Other Navy. I've done my research, and I think it suits me better than the Proper Navy (or any other branch, for that matter).
