Oblations & S&M

OK, so let's pretend that there's a Legacy of mages that evolved from the S&M subculture and use pain and sensation as a means to enlightenment. What kinds of oblations would they use, do you think? Sex, duh, but what else?

Undergoing confinement, sensory deprivation, or isolation. Wearing a full-body rubber suit; being locked in a lightproof and soundproof chamber.

Thanks. I'm terribly curious, though; when you say "the S&M subculture," which iteration do you mean? The idea of a Legacy that's heavily gay and male, based on the initiations of the "old guard" of the 1950's, would be a hoot.

The Legacy's a little more recent than that, though it does have its roots in the gay culture, sort of (founder was a gay man, though he created the Legacy almost by accident).

Look, the book will be out in a year or so. :)

Cutting/self-mutilation, self-flagilation, extreme sports/activities (marathon running, mountain climbing, full contact sports), trichtophic behavior (hair pulling/plucking), exposure to extreme temperatures (ice/fire), skin removal, nerve stimluation via accupuncture...

Anything involving body modification - tattoos, piercings, scarification, branding - in a non-sexual situation.

Any kind of surrender of control to another individual.

Taking non-magical control of an individual - being a boss outside of a workplace.

Pushing one's self past their own limits - sleep deprivation, risking alcohol poisoning, fasting.

Painful physical contact - time in a mosh pit, participating in a boxing match (or a street fight), martial arts sparring.

Taking unnecessary risks (subway surfing, street running (as in B-13 - I forgot the name of what that sport is called))

I actually made this the basis for the sample character for the Legacy.

Ah.

Just exercising my super-power again.

Thought of another oblation:

"Arranging or participating in a fetish photo-shoot."

Don't know if that would go for the feel you want . . .

If you take bondage as part of that culture, how about the act of tying a knot in rope or escaping being tied down (that is, a slow thorough process)?
