I just found out a friend has died. It feels so strange, I found out from a mailing list, that linked to his facebook. I haven't talked to anyone face to face about it. How can you grieve for someone when all you have is text, a lot of people giving condolences on his wall. It doesn't seem real in any way.

Whoa that's awful, really sorry to hear about this man. I'm not sure if hearing the news from an actual person would make it sink in any quicker or more effectively though. I do see hwat you mean, however, text is a very cold, disjointed language.
