TODAY I MET A LADY ON THE BUS WHO MET THE BEATLES!

I'm so exited I can hardly talk.
But here are the details.

So I was on the bus coming home after work. I work for a church nursery, and they had a huge 'yard' sale today. there was a tun of stuff, and my sister and I filled up a $5 dollar box full of books - she got a bunch of art books, and i grabbed tons of Winnie the Pooh as well as a book on Karma. I also found this really great album I was going to tell you guys about anyway, it's called 'Rise of the Beatles' and it's like, Spanish or Italian (I didn't look carefully I'll have to check again) and it has all of the Beatles early covers like Be-bop a Lula and Roll Over Beethoven, but it ALSO has Cry For a Shadow! Which is the ONLY Lennon/Harrison in existence! SO, I'm super exited, and I'm carrying it while we are waiting at the bus stop down town and this nice, upscale looking lady in her middle sixties is giving me and my album the eye. ANd I'm like "Heh heh, she thinks I'm cool'.

SO we get on the bus and my sister sits down next to her and she says: "I see you have a Beatles Album - I didn't know young people liked the Beatles!" And me and my sister gush "Of course we like the Beatles! And she says "I met the Beatles." I babble about somehtiong, no memory what, but I remeber I ask "After a concert or something? And she goes; "No.. I had.. a thing.. with the Beatles. And I go Oh. Like?" (I'm so pushy lol) she says "I.. spent a weekend with them."

I just have to stop a moment. OMG. omg. I hope I'm getting this close enough to what she actually said.

And I ask her "What where they.. like? And she says: "crazy.. wild. They were just.. crazy. They were young, wild men. So wild." She kept repeating that phrase the whole time we talked. MY sister asks for details and she says "Well - I thought differently than than I do now. As a mother..." *she drifts off* But I kept pushing her and finally she says: "We uh" and then she makes the hand gesture for *smoked pot* while looking surreptitiously around the bus. LOL. SO I'm standing there thinking "I owe it to JHP to ask something!" But she's so private about it, and so shy on this bus surrounded by people, but I finally get up the courage and ask - "were John and Paul - and all of them - really as close as some people said?" ANd she said "They were all - they were. But you know, it was just '64 - still before things got bad.

She said they where crazy from being locked up in their hotel room, which they stayed prisoner for the entire weekend. She said the girls where just sneaking up in hoards, just thinking up every possible way to try and get in there. I eventually got it out of her that she was dating someone at the time who worked for the Beatles. They way she said it though, it sounds like it was a pretty 'wild' party for and with everyone, boyfriend or no.

This happened in New York at the time of Shea Stadium, and she said she got to go there too, and she went out on the grass, and a policeman was telling her she was crazy, out there where the jelly beans would be flying... But she all 'to hell with it I'm not worried!' and she told us - I was young then - I'm think differently now. She said it was so crazy. She used that word ALOT.

ANd then she started to get too shy, and changed the subject to her two sons who studied at NYU and and how she speaks French but has no - one to practice it with so shes always rusty whenever she visits Paris, and what schools we go to, and how she is going to see an Independent French film at a theater down the street from us. Apparently shes a movie buff. She loves all of the theaters I do. (I think she is my sister's new hero)

I am so happy. I never thought this would happen to me. Everyone on LJ always seems to have awesome chance encounters like this - and now I had one too. :DDDDDDD
