Well, here I am on LJ...after how many years?  After spending my hours perusing facebook instead of lj as I once did back in the day....I have come to the conclusion...that facebook is a VERY LONELY PLACE.  Seriously, I feel more at home here with people I don't know and probably don't remember me then writing status updates to all of my "real life

I dunno. I've pondered much of the same. Everyone I talk to regularly on the computer are people I actually have contact with or had a relationship with in the past. Only the people that I expect "more" from ("best" friends, my brother, his wife), consistently let me down in developing better communication - and that's usually because I'll "see" them on Facebook a lot and ask for a phone call (appointment?) and not get any follow up until I've rang them three or four times. I guess I never found even a trace of community on the internet - just random, interesting people with a plethora of variation in their communication skills. I've always been a "take what I can get" person, though. Your need for community before made us hook up as Snohomish mommies, and I've valued our (albeit sporadic) contact over the years.
