Sorry not to get to this comment sooner, it really is excellent. I have an Etsy store set up (which is like Ebay but for craft) they have the same deal with paypal that Ebay does I think, which takes that tricky part out of my hands.

Am currently working on a kit design, sending out all the bits and pieces so that kids can make their own versions of my creatures. My mum said that that sort of thing used to be popular when she was a kid. Ebay for the origami papers sounds like a fantastic idea, all of which will be less about me making stuff and more about selling... stuff

The only reason that I would have for making my own website would be for the custom creatures. I want (eventually) a flash thingy that will let them select shape, colour, eyes etc. then have a mock up of how it will look. Then the final order gets sent to me and I send it out by post.

I reckon you could (should) look at a way of funding artistic projects in poor countries that you can oversee/design for, and then sell the stuff here.

Better use of your time/contacts/background etc.

I'll send u my thesis if you like. It has lots of theoretical background for such things.
