I'm a poet! And I didn't even know it!

April is National Poetry Month and though I have a very low tolerance for most poetry, the poetry I do like I love leik woah. So in honor of the genre that gave us Shakespeare, Milton and Syndey, here is a Hermione-centric R/Hr oneshot about the power of poetry (both good and bad). I tried not to be too pretentious with my poetry references but c ( Read more... )

Oh snap. How did I miss this. These thoughts about unrequited love and whatnot all seem very Hermione-ish when she is at her most practical minded self. And that last bit made me ache for her and Ron in all his foolishness, ack those two! Kudos for working in all the poetry details. Nicely written :D

Aw thank you so much! I love the idea of practical Hermione trying to make sense of this silly love business so this was so much fun to write. Thanks for commenting on it!

I'm sorry it took me so long to read this. The last line is heartbreaking and shows us that Hermione knows more about the feelings that inspired Baudelaire than she would like to admit. :-) Gorgeous exploration of a character, without being a romanticized or all-forgiving version of her. Your story makes something ring within me. I have so much trouble reading Hermione in fanfic, but here, I feel vindicated, hee. This is exactly how I understand the character to be - bright, intellectual and reasonable, but sometimes clueless about her own feelings about what seems without reason. In short, human.

Please keep writing fanfic. You are one of the few writers that always make me want to fall in love with those characters again.

After reading your Luna in captivity fic that was recced over on Checkmated, I had to come over to browse more that you have written. This was wonderful!
"That's how it ends, the poem about his dead wife. But Ron isn't dead and Hermione isn't blind and they aren't married and the pronouns aren't even right. So really, there's no need to think of Milton. Good poem, though." LOL There are so many great lines in this, but that's probably my favorite. "The pronouns aren't even right" (!) Great job capturing Hermione's inner voice, and speaking as someone with a B.A. in English Lit, excellent use of the authors' poetry! ;)

You know the poem! Yay, I love that poem. It's my favorite, actually, something I only admit to fellow English lit people or people I feel like annoying with my pretentious ways.

Thanks so much for the review! I love Hermione so I'm pleased you thought I did a decent job.
