For the question meme train_lindz asked me something that makes my heart a-flutter with joy. The answer deserves its own post, yes indeed. And here it is.
Girl I kinda love you for this post. I once wrote a whole long gushy thing on a character I love and kinda see myself in and all that good stuff (not from HP though). Private though as it was perhaps too long and gushy. This is also made me smile because I had a convo about HP characters recently with someone and we were relating ourselves to characters and my description was--I'm a Hermione in person and a Luna in my head, heh. And that's one of the reasons I really do like fanfic because it is a sort of way to explore others/surrounding world through characters who may or may not be like you in some ways, and trying to look through their eyes does give you a bit of a different perspective.
And I concur, Luna is awesome. Darn your computer that ate those fics, that fic about the anniversaries and that Luna/George fic intrigue me. All your yay!Luna talk is making feel like I need to be writing more Luna or something goshdarnit.
Too long and gushy? In fandom? This does not exist. Not at all. XD
I feel guilty, almost, admitting that I sometimes write Luna in a way similar to me. I can imagine people coming at me with pitchforks screaming "cliche!" and "insertion fic BAD!" and that's just unpleasant. But I suppose we all do this, yes? You can't write something and have it be fully divorced from you.
Hermione in person but Luna in head? I rather like that description. Could lead to some interesting internal debates, though, I imagine. heh.
GO WRITE LUNA FIC. Don't think you can end with a sentence like that and not have me react, that's not a possibility. WRITE LUNA. NOW. *coughcoughormaybeSAficyescoughcough*

Luna is awesome. She may not be my absolute favourite, but she's high on my list and definitely a special girl!
