I didn't get into U of t either for my master's program either and I was shit-tastic for a while too. I got into the UVic one and though I'm relieved and excited I'm in there, Toronto was my first choice too, so I cried on and off all day when I found out. Then I felt better, but it took a while.
I guess the point is that yeah, it sucks not getting to go with your number one plan.
oh, you loving torontonians! see, everyone who sez you're all negative and mean and unfriendly has no idea what they're on about! craftleen should get onto your mailing list... huh, maybe she'll read this...
I'm sorry Lindsay. You're good enough for that damn place; it's tough they don't realize it. If you have a baby, though, I'll get to be an aunt. And I'll try to mind my tongue. I haven't heard about SFU yet. And you ought to know soon about UBC? I know two peeps who have found out about there already, though for different programs of course.
[Yes, I'm using one of your photos in your honour.. ;)]
If it's at all reassuring, I heard from SFU after I heard from York - granted, I got into it, but SFU was my long-shot choice with the higher GPA requirement which I didn't think I'ld get into, and it did come through.
How did you get to NYC? I'm thinking I should take a trip there once my thesis is done (as well as Paris, London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Vienna...) - did you fly to TO and take the bus or train, or fly there directly?
my fingers are still crossed for UBC... but it wasn't my first choice, even though the program's better.
thanks for the photo ;)
flew to nyc on a super-cheap air canada deal: vic-toronto-laguardia, $500 return... including taxes! it's actually pretty sick, considering the enviro-impact of air travel. coming home, there was only 1 hour in t.o. to do customs and make it to my west-bound flight, so of course i didn't make it... but it was cool: i ended up with an unexpected day there!
(sorry i didn't call you, craftleen... i spent it with my parents)
(oh, and jc too! in fact, if any of my toronto friends read this and realize that i was in your city and didn't say hi, i'm sorry and i miss you and i think you're great!)
Hey Lindsay. remember your bday? didn't we give you enough ideas of what to do with your life in case plan A doesn't work out? i would love to see what you choose... it's too bad you're not coming here cuz we definitely would have loved to have you in Toronto but whatever ends up happening will be good too. and at least its nicer weather where you are!

If you don't get into UBC, move to TO anyway. We love you, we miss you, plus I can continue showering you with transgressive schlock!
At least it's something.
Grrr.
