As long as your keep writing, you will keep improving. Writing is an art that cannot be learnt overnight and one that you will always need to be practiced and refined. That’s just how it is. If you are prepared to go with this-as I well know you are-and keep at it, then you will succeed. As with any discipline, you need to give it time and patience-and lots of it

If you were pleased with your first chapter after such a long break then that's a good sign. Because of that break, you were able to look at your work with fresh eyes - more like a reader would - so if there was anything wrong there, you would've picked up on it. Have faith in yourself and keep on writing and you'll reach 'the end' in no time! : )
