Revising

I started revising TAINTED FROST a few weeks ago. It's so exciting! I can't believe how much I love revising. I always thought I would hate it because before I started writing novel-length fiction, revising seemed like a chore. Wouldn't it be great to write a perfect first draft that didn't need any more work? I mean, I guess that would be pretty ( Read more... )

It's great that you are enjoying so much revisions. I'm on that too and I have been through a roolercoaster. Sometmes I love it other I hate it.
Maybe because I'm also a perfeccionist! If you need any help with a beta reader or a critique just tell me.

Oh, thanks for the offer! It sucks to be a perfectionist, doesn't it? I wish I was a little more easy-going. Good luck with your revisions!

Thank you! Good luck to you, too. Writing is one of the few things that make me feel in control, so I find it hard to stop. That might help you keep going if you ever feel stuck. Remember that you're creating your own world, and anything goes!

It's impossible for me to not occasionally revise chapters pre-completion, although I've been trying not to -- but, I agree with you. Every time I revise a scene I feel like I have such a better insight into what's actually going on, and the ideas flow so much more clearly than during an initial draft. If only the draft could be as inspired!

I've bookmarked your blog. Mine isn't much, but I'm also in the process of writing a YA book so if you're interested feel free to check it out. wordpress.com/annafantastica

Thanks! I'll definitely check out your blog.

I think it's fine to revise as you go along, but when you let the ideas simmer for a while, I think it freshens your mind. Of course, there's no saying what the right way of doing anything is, as long as you do it. Good luck with your WIP :)
