before we exchange smoke rings

Its not crazy to think that Jon didn't smoke pot til he met Panic, right? or is it at least feasable that he would have been fairly new to it at the time right? Like maybe he was introduced to it by TAI..., but it was like a thing til Panic? It seems like it to me, and I kinda wanted to know for my fic. I'll probably just right it that way anyhow, ( Read more... )

I always figured he was doing it when he was working with TAI. That's just me though.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. But it wouldn't be a to awfully large stretch of the imagination to say that it was Panic that got him into it, right?

In the story, I want either Ryan or Jon to be knew to it, and I was kinda thinkin I wanted it to be Jon, although I don't really know if that matters too much.

I always just assumed he's had a bong since he was in 10th grade. Those Chicago boys seriously know how to party.

you thought about my post for a whole day? wow, that's kinda cool :)

So far as I know, there is no known canon that establishes when Jon started smoking. The assumption that he's older and therefore more experienced is pretty ingrained. He'd been in the Chicago music scene since he was at least sixteen.

We know that Ryan and Spencer didn't drink or smoke in the early Panic days (in part because of their age, but also because of Ryan's dad and Spencer just being a 'good boy')

We do know for sure that Brendon smoked up in high school and with the absence of concrete canon for Jon, one could explore the idea that Jon was introduced it by the band. That's a funny thought, actually.

This was most helpful. That's a very straightforward and clean cut way to look at it, and for that I thank you. I think I may right it with Jon being the newbie, hard sell or not, only cause I'm trying to work a certain angle, but I see what you mean. Good to know that you'd read it anyway, my slight diversion from canon notwithstanding.
