CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Kisuke Urahara- Bleach
In-Game Name: Kisuke Urahara
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Serenity- Passenger

Appearance: Standing at 6' even and a scrawny 152lbs, Urahara doesn't look like much- especially not a former military captain. His shaggy blond hair is a constant mess, and he's long since stopped trying to tame it- he usually just throws on his favorite green and white striped hat after rolling out of bed and calls it a day. His other most notable aspect are his wooden geta sandals- this coupled with the hat has earned him the nickname "Mr. Hat-and-Clogs" from some. He wears comfortable clothes generally- loose dark green shirts and pants and a robe that's black with white diamonds- meant to be the opposite of a captain's robe. His eyes are grey, and usually sparkle with mischief or a grand new idea he's just come up with. He also usually looks like he needs a shave, but rarely does as his facial hair is little more than scruff.

Personality: Outwardly, Kisuke is sarcastic and loves to play pranks or mislead people slightly for his own amusement. He doesn't give too much away, and prefers joking to being overly serious to those that have just met him. He hates having to explain himself, and would rather keep up idle banter with even his opponents to keep up the appearance of a mere shopkeeper.

Despite being laid-back and jovial, he is very polite and rarely refers to someone without calling them by the appropriate rank our simply by "Mr." or "Ms./Mrs." simply out of respect. He can be caring, especially to those who are close to him (in once canon sequence, he is shown comforting the girl that works at his shop while she cries about a mistake she made- he takes the blame and gives her a hug and says he'll fix it).

Kisuke is a self-described "pervert", though he likes to keep himself to teasing and dirty thoughts and will not force himself upon a woman or tease her if it's clearly making her uncomfortable, and does not touch unless he feels it's okay to- he doesn't needlessly invade personal space out of politeness.

He is very intelligent, and always seems to know more than he lets on. He's a businessman, but at his core he's an scientist, and loves tinkering with things and developing his own inventions. He makes a living as a blackmarketeer, mostly as his own little way of giving the governments and military the finger (and he can't honestly get a legal job back in Ivona, so right after his defection, few options were left open to him). He lives by his own code of honor, and keeps all of his contacts and customers completely confidential, and is one of the safest black market dealers and traffickers to deal with, and it's a reputation he's quite proud of.

He can be serious when the time calls for it, and though he likes to keep an air of mystery around himself, he will step in to help those he feels are his friends or need his help. He prefers to wait on the sidelines of a fight and help those in the fight than get directly involved, though he will step in and fight if he feels it is called for. He can be analytical and quick to think and act when the situation calls for it, but isn't hasty and hot-headed.

Before defecting from the military, he used to be quite nervous and easily flustered, though those days are long behind him now. He's much more collected than he used to be, and has become a bit of a cynic. He's not an idealist by any stretch of the imagination- he has been betrayed and lost everything he had, and that made him more closed-off to those that he doesn't fully trust.

Abilities/Weapons: Despite his unassuming appearance, Kisuke is a highly skilled fighter, and a master of hand-to-hand and armed combat. He was trained in secret ops by the military, and had to become a highly skilled unarmed fighter to oversee the "Maggot's Nest" detention centre- where weapons are not allowed.

He is and expert at flash-stepping, an ability that allows one to quickly move from one place to another by sharply increasing his speed. He is able to keep up with his friend, Yoruichi, who is considered to be one of the most skilled flesh-step users.

Kisuke is proficient with defensive and offensive spells-

He is able to summon a shield that blocks physical and magical attacks for a short period. The shield is rather small, being roughly ten feet by ten feet, and he is unable to attack while it is in place, though he may cast spells. The shield dissipates after a short time for a few minutes, and can be broken with a powerful enough attack, though can be recast after a few minutes.

He also has a spell that he developed that acts like a sort of land mine and is nearly undetectable until he triggers it- it unleashes a powerful non-element based blast. It can be combined with other spells (like combining it with the shield spell to have something that explodes and forces back an opponent when the shield is hit, for example) and can be cast multiple times. After being cast, the mines dissipate for roughly an hour, until they disappear completely.

His final and most powerful spell is one that summons several spears of light that impale a target and then explode. This takes roughly thirty seconds to cast and must be cast at a distance, as the blast is powerful enough to take out things caught in its radius- roughly twenty feet. He is generally only able to cast this spell once before he must rest and recover, and thus is a last-ditch spell meant to thoroughly disable his opponent.

He is more skilled with offensive spells than defensive, and has had only basic training in field first-aid spells.

He is also skilled with a sword, and keeps one on him at all times, hidden in a cane. The sword has the spirit "Benehime" bound to it, and when he releases it with the command "awaken", it turns into an average-length sword, with a razor edge instead of a point at the end, and a red tassel at the end of the slightly bent hilt. The sword is capable of using fire-based magic- creating waves of flame or balls that explode on command.

How well can your character hack?: Due to the black ops training he has had, he can hack extremely well, into the "very hard" territory.

Weaknesses: Kisuke would rather keep his weaknesses secret, but they exist. He can be a bit lazy sometimes unless something really catches his mind- and when that happens, he can be found avoiding sleep in favor of working obsessively on a new invention or to improve something. His close friends are his main weakness- he will do anything in his power to help them. That said, he is not quick to trust someone (help them, sure, but not trust them), and keeps most people at a distance through secretiveness and misdirection.

History: Kisuke grew up at the Shihouin mansion in Solare, as a ward who was taken in by the family. He became quick friends with the family heiress, Yoruichi, and the two grew up together. When she left for the military, Kisuke followed, and they were both in the black ops. He became the overseer of a special detention centre called "The Maggot's Nest"- a place where unsavory and potentially dangerous types were held. The inmates were free to do as they pleased within the confines of the place, but not allowed to carry weapons or venture outside.

Shortly after Yoruichi became a captain, there was an opening for a captain's position, and she recommended Kisuke to the position. He passed the examination and was promoted, much to his new lieutenant's chagrin. He changed the division from just being a regular combat division into once more devoted to the sciences, and created the Ivonian Research and Development Institute. He spent his time transforming the barracks into a laboratory, and afterward spent time developing weapons and fighting techniques. After several years, Kisuke caught wind of some illegal secret underground experiments being run (using his research as the basis for them). This didn't sit well with him, and when he attempted to confront the captain running the experiments, he was framed for them and set to be tried as a criminal. Before the trial could happen, however, his old friend Yoruichi helped he and the experiment subjects escape.

He stayed with the subjects, who banded together and called themselves "Vizard", and over the course of a couple of years, helped them learn to control their new powers. They moved around from place to place, avoiding the military, and it was then that Kisuke, needing money to take care of himself and fund his research, started dabbling in dubiously legal goods and outright illegal ones. Eventually, satisfied that they had progressed enough and could control their new abilities, he and the Vizard parted ways.

The next couple of years were spent on various mercenary vessels, and he got into the business of trafficking weapons and other goods from place to place, and has even completely outfitted several mercenary vessels. It was during this time that he met Malcolm Reynolds, and the two met and parted under friendly terms. While on one of these vessels, he met Ichigo Kurosaki and took him under his wing. He used mana crystals to enhance Ichigo's fighting abilities- using techniques he developed and had used on himself. After a few months, he left that ship, confident that Ichigo could use his newfound powers.

Kisuke became a fairly prominent underground figure, known for getting quality goods and being generally pleasant to deal with- and safe to deal with, that's the big thing. He settled in Garretstown in the badlands for a short time before getting kicked out due to running illegal goods and using the trade streets to launder them. Due to his nomadic lifestyle and his constant running to avoid the military and law (and the more unsavory blackmarketeers that would love to "put him out of business permanently"), Urahara has visited most cities in Vohemar and Ivona at one point or another, however briefly, (and has been chased out of a few), and has visited the islands, as well. He has served a short stint as a royal inventor for the Eralians and visited Kropmork-Nahk, where he settled down for several months but found the organized crime syndicates too bureaucratic to deal with. He keeps contacts in the major cities, and can procure most goods and information...with a price, of course- one that's a bit higher than you might pay elsewhere (but hey, he won't sell you bad/counterfeit goods knowingly and won't stab you in the back on your way out). But if you're willing to pay it, chances are he can get it for you.

Hoping to avoid a particularly nasty disagreement between himself and a black market supplier (he'd really like to keep his testicles and fingers, yes) and wanting to meet up with his good friend Yoruichi again, Kisuke hopped on the good ship Serenity, using his money and acquaintance with the captain to make his way as a passenger.
