On time, exact to the second, Severus arrived by floo at the Manor. Stepping out of the floo, he gently brushed the tiny remains of soot and ashes away from his robes.
It was strange, being here again. Strange in the sense, that things had changed so radically between Lucius and him since the last time he had set foot here. Strange in the way his mind played tricks on him and tried to turn back time. He forced it into focus, shields in proper places but also ready... Ready to be lowered. Ready for Lucius.
Lucius rose to his feet and took a few steps toward Severus. There was a different feeling between them now, he could feel it even this quickly. Outwardly, there were no signs of anything being different, and in all truth, Lucius would have been surprised had there been any. But even though the mere sight of the man made him want to bruise those lips under his won, Lucius knew that for now, they had to take care of business. He had not approached Severus as he had just to leave the carefully laid plans aside, no it was because of those plans that he had kissed him.
"Severus." A smile played on Lucius' lips. "Nice to see you again."
"Lucius," Severus found a smile curling his own lips at the sight, and the sound of Lucius' silky voice.
"It is good to see you," he replied, their eyes meeting, capturing his gaze. By the gods, it was good to see Lucius, in a place where there was no need for pretences, for charades. Narcissa... well, he had never truly given that woman more than a fleeting thought, when it came to Lucius.
Only sharp envy and hatred, is that not so, Severus?
"Please, have a seat." Lucius gestured toward the comfortable armchairs. This was not business to conduct from behind a desk. "WOuld you care for a drink?"
Ah, but it felt good to feel this lighter air between them...
