My love, I have a birthday present for you, and also, erm, two Christmas presents, so I will try to get them sent SOON because really, the Christmas ones have been here since November and I suck for not managing to send them before. At least, I suppose, it means you will get three presents all at once. I'm sorry you feel bad, and really really wish we were somewhere where there could ba A Proper Big Celebration.

His name is George! He is very nice! He's the housemate of a friend of a friend; I've known him vaguely for a couple of years. We're still in the getting-to-know-you stage, but I like spending time with him, so it's going ok.

Thank you! I did actually have quite a nice birthday in the end; I spent most of the day itself shut up in my den of organic chemistry, but I have seen people since, and to my great surprise I have not developed any new wrinkles since then :D
