Personality
Chichiri comes off as being a pretty laid back person most of the time, if not a little eccentric. His sense of humor can be a little off at times, but he gets along well with most people. He acts really carefree and sometimes silly, and he enjoys fishing...even in water he doesn’t actually know if there are fish in. When not in the company of his friends, and sometimes even in it, he may be found fishing or sitting alone and meditating.

His role is generally that of the older brother and adviser, providing others with support or advice when needed, often while trying to keep as light a mood as possible. He rarely leads, but he does what he can to protect others from danger and they usually listen to him when he asks to do something or tells them the best course of action because of his wisdom. When he’s being firm or demands something on the rare occasion he gets angry, people are even more likely to listen to him than usual. He’s also shown himself to be willing to sacrifice himself to help his friends and to know when to accept another's sacrifice to buy time.

Beneath the cheerful exterior, he’s much more serious, a trait developed after the tragic events of his life at age eighteen. He feels a lot of guilt over what happened and tries to atone for his sins by helping others and carrying on for those dear to him.

Interestingly enough, even though he loves and cares dearly for Miaka, he is one of the only Suzaku warriors who is not shown to be in love with her. This could easily be because of the nine year age difference between, combined with the emotional distress from his youth though. He tends to add "ya know" to the end of a lot of what he says, but the frequency is affected by his mood and the situation. When he’s at his most serious, he rarely says it, if he does at all.
