I think you may have solved the mystery! That's some smooth 'shoppin'. I like how the rooster is partially covered, preventing you from seeing his more seductive parts.

All photoshopping aside, I agree on the Hitchhiker's tip. I thought it was a perfect companion to the book, although I could've done without the romantic subplot, where he's telling the mice about how he met this girl and she's "the one," or what have you, yet he's only exchanged 4 sentences with her the entire movie. It would be obvious even to people who didn't read the book that they crammed that shit in there at the studio's behest.
Mos Def was awesome when he wasn't chasing people around with his towel. Zaphod was hilarious as hell, and Shynola's work on the guide's animations was purr-fect.

Yeah. Although they were uncalled for, the romantic aspects of the movie were so few and far between, their overall impact was pretty negligible. I can imagine they were thrown in there to add a human element to Arthur's character, rather than leaving him to be nothing more than a nondescript, unrelatable guy who is put into a series of zany circumstances.
The director should have removed the Arthur/Trillian subplot, and he should have added a 30 minute sequence of ultra-violent Vogon tribadism.
