Daniel is doing his homework at last, writing a very small dictionary. In order to make this task more bearable he has been trying to engage me in conversation, which is why I have gone to hide upstairs with the computer for a bit. Latest topic was

White vinegar and some salt will clean coins too.

So will concentrated nitric acid. I've even cleaned them with aqua regia too (but that is a little on the overkill side as it will eat through the coins too). Any concentrated acid will do.
