Part 13.

“Sherlock?”

Mycroft’s voice made him jolt back to reality. As he did nowadays, he skittered back and prepared to take flight as required.

Mycroft looked immaculate in his pin-striped three-piece and lustrous purple tie, an effect ruined by the snicker. “ ( Read more... )

I must admit my biggest guilty pleasure in all your fics to-date: Torturing Sherlock with girls. Doubling up on him this time was just... fun. :D (Sorry, Sherlock, old boy. It must be done, what with that face of yours.)

As a fan of anything to do with the fractious Mycroft/Sherlock relationship, I can readily admit to my favorite line in the piece:
"What Mycroft couldn’t do was say straightforward things like I hate you, or You constantly disappoint me."
And not because I feel any need for the woobification of Sherlock (in fact, that is something I never, ever feel the need for), but just because it says so much about both of them without saying much at all. Is it stark truth or hurt exaggeration -- or perhaps a bit of both? I'd say both, and wonderfully so ( ... )

No woobifying, what I liked best about it. With any other sort of character, it would be a "Poor so-and-so" moment, which has its place and can be quite enjoyable. But we have a special case here with Sherlock, and instead I lovingly shake my head at his aloof and arch dramatics. I think it particularly Sherlock-ish to be miffed at Mycroft for the how (parables and abstractions) rather than for the what. For Sherlock, who relies on empirical cues to translate the world around him, Mycroft's poetics must be yet another thorn, and we can be sure Mycroft well knows it. I find them infinitely fascinating men, hence all the rambling. :)

I agree regarding the complexities between Sherlock and Mycroft. Really, there's so much water under that bridge a body couldn't get in for to do repairs. Lol! Dark and treacherous water. Mycroft is simply too dangerous a man, and Sherlock too capricious and clever even at the tender age of 17.

I honestly wouldn't know where to 'woobify' in this one. Sherlock is strong throughout, if somewhat shaken. <-- (he sounds like a drink!)

I'm enjoying your rambling. Thanks for that! :D
