Name: Mami Tomoe

Gender: female
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Timeline: Post-death in Timeline 3 of episode 10.
History:
http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Mami_Tomoehttp://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episode_1http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episode_2http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episode_3http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episode_10 Character Personality: When one first meets Mami, the first thing they might notice is how cool she is. No, not in the “oh god so awesome!” way (though that is the reaction some people have towards her). Mami has a very calm, even demeanor, which very rarely changes. Whether she’s in school or fighting a witch, she very rarely loses the aura of calm about her. She's confident in her own abilities, and just a little on the cocky side, almost casually threatening Homura in several of their confrontations in the main timeline.
Her personality definitely fits the role she takes in the series. She’s the big sister figure, the mentor; she cares very much for Sayaka and Madoka, especially the latter, and does her best to show them the ways of being a Puella Magi. They may be defenseless when they enter the witches’ dimensions, but Mami does her best to keep them safe. She also does her best to guide them; she stresses that they must think carefully over their wishes. She thinks it would be foolish to waste such an important thing on something trivial. She's very much the same in Timeline 3, but instead of Sayaka, Homura is the other Puella Magi in need of guidance. She and Madoka have already contracted, but that doesn't stop Mami from showing them the ways of the Puella Magi, and keeping an eye out for them when she can.
... Heartbreakingly, most of this calm attitude is just a mask.
It's true that Mami is a nice girl. It's true that she wants to help Sayaka and Madoka (and Homura) be the best Puella Magi they can be. But underneath all that is an almost crippling loneliness. Before meeting the others, she had nobody to care about or who cared about her for an unknown amount of time: her parents are dead, she's constantly butting heads with the city's other resident Puella Magi, and she constantly fights increasingly creepy otherworldly beings. This puts an immense amount of stress on her, and she admits that while she's resigned to a life of loneliness, she still cries a lot at home. It really says a lot about her acting that she's able to cover all of this up.
But once the cracks start appearing in her shell, she doesn't bother covering them up. She eventually admits that she's not someone that should be admired: the loneliness, the guilt... she's even a bit cynical under all her layers. While she doesn't regret becoming a Puella Magi, she does regret not being able to make the choice for herself. She's also more than a bit selfish; she's willing to expose Madoka to the horrors of becoming a Puella Magi just so she'll have someone there for her. To assure her that she's not alone. In her defense, though, she didn't know the true horror of becoming a Puella Magi. This is confirmed in Timeline 3: Mami, completely horrified over the reveal that Puella Magi with tainted Soul Gems turn into witches, destroys Kyouko's Soul Gem and would have done the same to Homura and Madoka had Madoka not destroyed hers first. She's willing to do anything make sure those she cares about aren't suffering, even though it may seem extreme at times.
In the alternate timeline I'll be taking her from, Mami seems to be somewhat less hostile towards her fellow Puella Magi. It can be assumed that she was still the same Mami up until she met Madoka, but as she didn't perish shortly after the pink-haired girl agreed to be her partner, the girl's positive influence was able to help Mami get past some of her issues. She works well with the other Puella Magi, even Kyouko, who seemed to be an enemy to the group at one point. She's still a long way from being the person she pretends to be, but it's clear that she was in the process of healing before Shit Got Real.
Character Abilities: Mami is a Puella Magi! They're... not your typical magical girls. While it's true that, in tradition with most other magical girl series, they get their super special magic powers from a cute animal sidekick, there's a whole other horrifying side to this role that none of them knew about when they agreed to the contract.
See, the Soul Gems? Those nifty jewels they get when the contract is formed? They're exactly what it says on the tin. Upon making a contract, their souls are sucked out of their bodies and into these gems, more or less turning them into zombies. A puella magi's body can be crushed, torn to shreds, and countless other nasty things, but as long as their Soul Gems are intact, they'll eventually be able to heal.
As for personal abilities, Mami has the ability to summon an unlimited amount of one-shot rifles. She has the power to transform objects (as seen with Sayaka's bat), create binds, and use the ribbon around her neck as a versatile tool to do various things. She also seems to have a minor healing ability, as seen when she helped Kyuubey in episode 2, but it's unknown if that was a power of her own or him just feeding off of her energy. Or something like that.
Character Weaknesses: First off, the weakness of all Puella Magi: their Soul Gems. It's actually their soul, right? So if that's destroyed, they're gone. No chance of coming back. If the gems are taken out of a one hundred meter radius of their bodies, the magic keeping said bodies alive wears off, and they become nothing but normal corpses. And lastly, the more they use their powers, or the more stress and despair is piled on to them, the more the Soul Gems go dark. If a Soul Gem goes completely dark, the Puella Magi turns into a witch. Being a magical girl in this series really kind of sucks.
As mentioned before, Mami's actually not as emotionally stable as she first appears to be. She's not insane, oh no, but she represses all her issues (her fear of being alone, her survivor's guilt) and insecurities and hides them all beneath a mask of calm and perfection. There, they continue to eat away at her, and the more time goes on, the more and more jaded Mami becomes.
Even hope and happiness could be considered weaknesses for her, because they're what eventually lead to her death in the main timeline. For the first time since becoming a Puella Magi, she was truly happy, content with her life, because she wasn't alone anymore, and she had someone to help her with her responsibilities. She fought with renewed vigor, and while this would normally count as a strength... it also made her reckless. She was so overjoyed while fighting, she was caught off-guard when Charlotte revealed another form, and froze up, giving the witch an opportunity to finish her off with one blow.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign? Nothing. While her Weapon form will be a reference to her personal abilities as a Puella Magi, none of her actual abilities will remain intact. Even though the Puella Magi's goal is the same as Shibusen's - to hunt down and kill witches - witches in the SE-verse don't have the things necessary to keep the Puella Magi from becoming witches themselves, so it would be best to completely strip her of her powers.
What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Since she'll be losing all her powers, she'll be losing all the weaknesses relating to them. This also means that she'll be losing all the strengths she gained. She's far less durable now than when she was a Puella Magi, and while she's still pretty fit, she'll only have the strength of a slightly above average high school girl.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: While Mami's "Cool Big Sis" attitude and helpful demeanor would pin her as a good Meister, she also has the potential to be a very good Weapon. Mami's whole driving force in her work as a Puella Magi is to protect the people of Mitakihara. She's also very protective of the girls she works with and took under her wing, especially Madoka. Considering Mami's job is to fight deadly eldritch abominations, it's safe to say she's willing to sacrifice herself in the line of duty. This fits in well the mentality of many of the Weapons in the series, who claim that they will do anything (even die) for their meisters. She's also very supportive, giving Madoka and Sayaka various useful tips before they became Puella Magi in the main timeline, and was endlessly patient with the almost painfully awkward Homura in Timeline 3, when she was still getting a hang of her new power.
What is your character's Weapon form?: A
silver flintlock musket. The reason I chose a weapon form that matches the weapon she uses in canon is the same reason why I think she uses said weapon. In Mami's mind, at least, her wish was selfish. Cowardly. So what better weapon for a coward to use than a gun? You're still killing, yes, but there's no blood on your hands. You can't actually feel your opponent dying when you shoot them.
So the WEAPON OF HER SOUL will obviously reflect that! The only difference between her Weapon form and her weapons is that she will not be limited to one shot (obviously), and she shoots energy bullets instead of normal ones. As for her resonance abilities, she has only two:
Tiro Primo(First Shot): A normal resonance attack. Instead of firing a simple energy bullet, Mami fires a compressed bullet of her Meister's wavelength, making this attack a distanced version of Soul Purge. This is also useful for Meisters whose abilities focus on affecting other people; for example, if Mami was the Weapon of someone with the Calming Wavelength, the ability will affect their opponent, if said opponent is caught up in the effects Insanity Wavelength.
The accuracy and charge time of Tiro Primo depends on the ability of the Meister. Those with more simple abilities, like Icy Soul or Scorching Soul, can charge somewhat quickly (around thirty seconds) and, when fired, has a decent chance of hitting. Things like the Calming Wavelength and Soul Menace, however, can take up to a full minute to fully charge, and the bullet's path is unstable and will decrease the accuracy of the attack.
Additionally, depending on the Meister's ability, the shots are limited. Those with more simple abilities can fire up to three times a day, while the more powerful abilities can only be shot twice. This also puts a decent amount of strain on the Meister, since this is tapping directly into their wavelength.
Tiro Finale(Final Shot): Mami's signature attack in the series is easy to translate into a resonance attack. Simply put, Mami is able to fire a massive beam of energy which is quite destructive. This can only be used when her and her partner achieve perfect resonance, and due to the amount of energy it costs, can only be used once a day.
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: lonely, calm, caring, selfish, supportive, bitter
Soul Appearance: Mami's soul is a bright golden color, just like her eyes, hair, and Soul Gem. It's got her corkscrew pigtails and hat, complete with decorations. As a drastic contrast to her calm, happy mask, her soul actually looks pretty sad.
