it makes him feel cool ok
don't crush his dreams
PLEASE NOTE
Tommy is Billy's twin; they have different eye and hair colours and Tommy's more athletically built thanks to doing lots of running rather than being a scrawny-ass magic user like Billy, but they're facially identical and stuff. This is worth pointing out because being comic book characters means they get drawn by a bunch of different artists and their faces consequently don't always look the same in their icons or anything - and when they do look the same they're usually being drawn by Jim Cheung, and ...
hmmmmm.

I am so glad you are not asking me to explain this bullshit myself personality: Billy is both a classic example of a bitter, sarcastic unpopular kid who uses snark as a means of coping in the face of adversity, and a ... well, a hero, if a junior one, who totally believes in his heroes, in his friends, and in the importance of doing the right thing. He might be an enormous fanboy who thinks that being an actual super hero omg is the coolest thing in the entire world (it would be appropriate to describe him as "genre savvy and loving it"), but he probably wouldn't have made it as far as he has if he weren't completely sure that he has no choice but to use his powers to help people. He's been through a lot for a teenager, after all - one could easily forgive someone in his position for throwing in the cape after being imprisoned in the Negative Zone for months, or after an evil scientist practiced vivisection on his boyfriend and forced him to watch, especially considering if he did want to quit he has a supportive, loving family who'd be okay with that and probably think it was for the best. He wholeheartedly believes, though, that there would be no excuse not to fight the good fight, and he puts a lot of faith in other people who do the same. But, yeah, in spite of all that, he can still be pretty damn cynical. His sense of humour is sarcastic more often than not, he doesn't shy away from pessimism, and he is unapologetically bitter and skeptical about quite a lot of things. He isn't very good at being indifferent when something's got him excited, though, however ridiculous and nerdy it might be. (However ridiculous and nerdy it usually is.) Most of the time he doesn't even try.
The sarcastic grouchy side isn't any kind of front, and being hopeful and determined about the stuff he's hopeful and determined about is in no way difficult for him. Billy would rather get beaten up than pretend to be someone he's not, and he probably couldn't do a very good job of pretending if he wanted to. He's very accepting of who and what he is; he knows himself and he's pretty confident that he knows himself, even if he doesn't always like himself that much, or expect other people to. He's not all that confident socially, though - he's chronically awkward, easily intimidated in certain situations, and while he can and will talk basically forever about some things, he often regrets it afterwards. He's kind of prone to putting his foot in his mouth, but he's even more prone to worrying about whether he's just said the wrong thing. He's the kind of person who says "sorry" if a stranger points out that he's hurt, and he often acts like if he can be sarcastic about something then he's absolutely fine. He downplays and apologises for his own problems except when he's exaggerating them for intended humorous effect - generally he'll only give a non-snarky account of what's bothering him if he's incredibly stressed out or upset, and even that's not always a guarantee of seriousness.
He's been advised by Stephen Strange, once Sorcerer Supreme, that he should distance himself from material distractions if he really wants to hone his magic, but Billy can't really bring himself to do that. He feels kind of bad, because that's advice from Doctor Strange, but ... the idea of being hecka powerful sort of unnerves him. Mostly it's because he's scared. This is a reasonable fear; his mother (sort of), the Scarlet Witch, used her magic powers to kill some people, including the father of one of Billy's best friends, and mess very severely with reality. The Scarlet Witch might be his favourite Avenger, but he is really pretty worried about ending up doing something like she did. Plus, you know, he's a teenager, and he is so not ready to distance himself from material distractions. He likes material distractions. He can give up being distracted later. And when it comes down to it, he feels like what he's supposed to be doing is fighting alongside the rest of his team, not holing up in a mystic sanctum and meditating and only coming out when the very fabric of reality is being torn asunder or whatever (although he does meditate when he remembers to). He doesn't want to be Sorcerer Supreme; he wants to be an Avenger.
abilities: Uuuuuuhhhh reality warping magic, more or ... less. Kinda. Yeah. In canon this also entails flying and lightning bolts and glowy magic blue energy constructs or something, but his main ~thing~ is that he can basically cause anything to change or be or happen by wanting it hard enough, including but not limited to teleportation, making himself invisible, healing, locating people, etc. etc. Basically if he can utter the phrase "I want to ____" then he can make it happen (mostly). He uses the repeated, muttered assertion (in blue font) that he wants an effect or outcome as a confidence/concentration aid. Unwanted side-effects include glowing and sometimes levitation.
Neeeeeedless to say he cannot do much of this here at all, and what little magic he can still do would require prolonged and focused concentration (like, sitting there and thinking about how much he wanted something very hard, usually for longer than would really be practical) and give him a headache. Usually he'll start glowing before anything else actually happens.
Non-supernaturally speaking, he doesn't really have any particular skills unless you count a troublingly in-depth knowledge of superheroes and related topics. He's probably a bit better in a fight than you might expect from someone of his stature (scrawny), thanks to rigorous training sessions, but when it comes to actual fights he is used to relying on his magic or his teammates or both. Everyone else on his team can beat him at arm wrestling.
any plans for your character here? Uuuuhhh Billy's not an ambitious sort of character in any sense of the word; he's really pretty comfortable with both his ... place in the world, and with who he is. The loss of his powers is probably going to make him extra insecure and at the same time quietly relieved in a way he will not admit to anyone, so there'll be that to deal with, but apart from that my to-do list for him here doesn't really go much further than ... be a dork about the setting/do the hero thing wherever possible and stress out a bit if he can't help much/get a bit homesick/dork some more.
possessions: Nothing besides his clothes (+cape), his dumb sunglasses, and the contents of his pockets (lint, loose change, used metrocards). He will probably endeavour to acquire a staff of some kind as soon as possible, partially because he thinks it might help to focus his magic but mostly because it makes him feel like Gandalf.
