Just saw the rainbow oreo...geez, surely not a low calorie deal there.
I am all for Gay Pride...but I do get a bit irked that they "took" the rainbow
for their symbol.
Sort of ruined it. Now, hear me out here.
To me...the rainbow represents EVERYONE....and to me that is still what it
represents.
FOR ANY GROUP, to take the rainbow to represent less than all of us in all
our flavors is to misrepresent the rainbow...in my feel of things.
I feel the same way when some church or other group has taken the rainbow for their
symbol and for the same reasons.
The rainbow used to stand for diversity, for ALL OF HUMANITY, not some small part
of it.
I wish folks would take it back to that. We surely need some sort of symbol that
represents the unity of humanity, of life, all-encompassing and positive.
So when you see me with rainbows....it means ALL OF US, and that INCLUDES
LGBT folks.....just not "only" LGBT folks....and ditto to any body else that figures
the rainbow belongs only to them. grrrrrr
