(Hello, long-time no see friends listers who don't rp or intend to rp at sirenspull . You can totally disregard this, at it pertains to game-specific roleplaying.)

For the rest of you, lets talk about apps. )

General Character Information magicnme June 6 2011, 20:59:17 UTC
"The most important section in here is the section on a character's NV form. Make sure it's functional and makes sense for the character if it isn't a typical cell phone type device. If it's a very unusual type of NV that isn't electronic or "normal" in some other way, make sure to explain how it will function for your character, in a clear enough way that someone not familiar with your canon will understand."

General
Canon Source: The name of the series/movie/book/anything else your character hails from.
Canon Format: Tell us what sort of format the character's original source was; especially helpful for fandoms that cover multiple formats, for example, Death Note, which has a manga, novel, and movies.
Character's Name: Please give this to us in Western order - given name first, family name second - if your character only has one name, that's fine too; please include any aliases.
Character's Age: The age of your character; if a character appears to be a different age than they truly are, please explain this here.
Conditional: If ( ... )

We've had a lot of questions raised here- Mainly with canon continuity issues about combining multiple forms of source material. (Conflicting anime/manga presentation, book-to-movie adaptations, multiple sequels, AU retellings of an original source, Western comicbook crossover multiverses dont-get-me-started etc.)

Identifying your Primary Canon Source is best, especially when there are multiple versions out there. Supportive supplementary material can be pulled from other canon sources, but we'd like you to state which version of the character you're mainly drawing from.

The abilities section is really important - we need to know what kind of abilities your character has so we can gauge how to deal with them in the context of the game. If your character has a good and well explained Wikipedia or informational article, we can definitely accept that, but make sure to clarify anything that might not make sense to someone who doesn't know your canon ( ... )

Please please please when writing these, assume we know nothing about the basics of your canon mechanics- be sure to explain how these work as if we've never been exposed to the canon before. Special Attacks with fancy names mean little to us unless you explain what they can do. Pacts with demons that loan you great superpowers- make sure we're aware of all the terms involved with them. A Vampire? Let us know how they work in your canon- sometimes there are important variants to the common myth.

If you know your power involves acting on another player, and is going to require a Permissions Post, please state your intentions to use them upfront. Link to it, if you've already got it written up on a journal, if you feel that will help prove "yes, I'm ready as a player to handle a significant power that potentially blurs into something like godmoding rights."

Weapons/Artifacts gaveherwings June 7 2011, 04:27:33 UTC
Weapons are not just things you can stab or shoot people with! You can also include any special magical or technological artifacts/items here that will imbue your characters with added powers.

If your character has a very powerful object tied to their character, and you feel like this is significant enough of a power to skip having a 'dormant power', you may. We'll work something out that the Core will enable the character to recall this item into their possession, if they should ever lose it.

Character History magicnme June 6 2011, 21:03:04 UTC
While character history is pretty important for character development, it isn't our main focus in the application process. History can be important if certain events have particularly influenced your character, but we're looking for something more personalized to your character than the series in general.

We do accept a Wikipedia or other informational link for the History section. You're perfectly able to post a link to a relevant and complete outside informational source rather than explaining your character's history in detail.

If your character is an import from another game, the conditional aspect of the history is crucial. We want to know what's happened to your character and how it may affect development. It's very important to make this part as filled out as possible, since it isn't exactly canon information and can only be double-checked by looking at your previous game.

Character History: Please give us a run down of your character's history. You may give us a full written explanation, or you may give us a link to a Wiki ( ... )

This is the part we pay probably the closest attention to. This is the focus of the application - we want to see how well you understand your character. We want to understand your character, both flaws and good points, and we want to understand why the character would be a good addition to the game. Feel free to include as much detail as you'd like, flesh your character out. Particularly if you've used the informational link option for the History section, expand on how events in the character's life have affected them and changed them. While we don't want a dissertation-length essay, we really want a rounded and complete idea of WHO your character is, as a person ( ... )

Character Plans & Appearance magicnme June 6 2011, 21:06:12 UTC
The appearance section is just for reference. Please avoid purple prose. In most instances, simply linking us to an image of your character is more than fine - but please don't insert an actual image into the application. Just link it.

Character Plans: Please give us an idea of what you're planning to do in Siren's Pull - this doesn't have to be long and it doesn't have to be set in stone, we're just interested in knowing what aspects of the game you are interested in playing with.

Appearance/PB: For characters with a confirmed canon appearance (in the case of comics/animated movies/manga/live action TV or movies) please just link us to an image of the character (please don't insert an image into your application to spare loading time) or a set of icons if you have them already. For characters from books or other non-visual sources, please let us know what your choice of PB is, if you wish to use a PB.
