Gah, it is SO difficult updating, I almost can't do it. I'd rather be at the dentist getting my teeth scraped, but then that's one of my favorite things to do so don't take me too seriously. Honestly, don't you love that whole cleaned out feeling? (there are a lot of places I could go with that sentiment, but I'll spare you my scatalogical humor

I did not doubt he would do well academically. I just assumed he would die of embarrassment before he'd offer to help someone else with their work since he really is very shy. Children often do surprising things, though, when they're not in the presence of their parents.

ETA: In situations where he knows people, he's very outgoing and friendly and just really great to have around, but get him in a room full of kids he doesn't know and he practically disappears with shyness. When I'd question him about school, he always made it sound like the latter was going on, so I was surprised to discover it was the former. Like I said, he was holding out on me!

i'm so happy to hear that daniel is doing so well in public school. it sounds like you've prepared him to be a wonderful person who will succeed in life. of course, it's always nice to get a pat on the back from other people telling you that you've done a good job raising him :)
