So what are folks thinking about the Arab world's response to the Danish politcal cartoons

its been stirred up by the saudi's to distract from their shitty planning for the hajj. the cartoons ran i believe sept 30th, it wasn't until hundreds of pilgrims died in various beaurecratic fuckups more recently that they had to crank on the guns to distract.

OOOOOOOOHHHH! That makes a certain amount of sense, but I'm not sure it accounts for the widespread nature of the outburst. It sucks - we're forced to choose between a conspiracy theory and a serious endemic cultural crisis.
