pretty good day yesterday. we went to baby depot and spent over 2 hrs looking at car seats, strollers, high chairs, pack-n-plays (and know which ones of each now we will register for). overwhelming choices, but the baby bargains book made it SO MUCH EASIER to make choices. Oh can you post stock photos of the crib and some of the items :D
I go to Babies R us ..alot just because it's "different" and I love looking at baby items. It soothes the biological clock, as weird as that sounds.

The crib is so classy and understated :)
I like the strollers too, they look well made and just right, I am not a fan of the over indulgent strollers, the baby is going to poop, eat, drool, and grow out of it so why spend to get one of the "designer" ones.

You and your husband have great taste, I admire that and I can't wait to see pictures of the nursery when it is finish, if you choose to share some!

haha, choose to?! you have no idea how many pics i plan to post. i'll be one of those annoying over-the-top parents who shares every sniffle.

yeah, i went more for cost, safety rating, etc, and less aesthetics. i'm not a fan of the pattern of the pack and play, but it has the basinette i wanted, without the insane bells and whistles some of them come with these days. we must have spent an hour with billy testing various car seats, trying them in and out of strollers, collapsing the stroller to see how it feels and how easy it is to open/shut. the crib...i actually stopped speaking mid-word and went to it, that's how i loved it.

but yes, the poop/drool/grow aspect is making me more rational than, i guess, most first-time moms. i'm getting plain bedding, i want to minimize the cutesy outfits until they're old enough to crawl and move, etc. the nursery is a sort of aquarium/aquatic theme. sea-green and sand paint colors, blues and greens and tropical colors. we'll see how it turns out.
