Best way to mail something to Italy?

Sep 25, 2006 12:25

Does anyone know the best way to mail a small package to Italy? I've heard wacky things about their postal service and it seems that the USPS doesn't even do global priority there...has anyone successfully mailed something to Italy using Airmail? (or any other method).

Thanks! If anyone has any helpful hints...

Neither have I! I've heard others have, but I send a lot of packages there, and have never had a problem. It sucks that their postal system doesn't take Global Priority, though. :(

As long as you're not marking the item jewelry, I havent had any problems. I don't think customs officials would be as likely to steal the felt rocks. :)

I didn't know gobal priority didn't ship there! I just recall thinking it was weird that I only had to pay 80 cents to mail something there, where it cost me like 4 something to mail to Australia!

er...that wasn't meant to come out sounding like your felt rocks arent awesome - more a question of how likely a corrupt customs official would be to take it. ya know?

hee hee, totally no offense taken! :) I was thinking I'd write "home made stuffed animals," because to the sticky-fingered, they'd take one look and say, "eh, no thanks" since they're not as re-sellable as say, gold earrings.

My brother recently whent to Europe for the World Cup and told us about all the disorganization for the train in Italy. They did not have the same name for the destination as in the ticket on the boards and they platform the train would arrive at would not be decided unitl the train got there and basically parked somewhere. Their mail system is probably the same way and that is why there is no global priority for Italy.

I send things via Airmail without problems that I know of. Be sure to fill out a customs form. Good luck.
