Why can't I seem to post more than once a month?

Nov 10, 2004 11:41

Because I am busier than I ever imagined it possible for me to be.

Okay so what is it now... November? When's the last time I posted... oh October 1st... Let's see... what has happened worth noting:

(I sub catagorize these because this is a loong one)

I was nearly tackled by Tim Robbins me as he got out of a cab

I actually spoke to Woody Allen. His new play A Second Hand Memory was rehearsing and is now performing at Atlantic. The Conservatory Director had said, at the beginning of it all, "Look I don't know how to say this nicely so I'll just say it: Don't talk to Woody, Don't look at Woody." The Grand-Poobah acting coach, Bella, augmented this with, "unless you are young and cute and female and asian." That last bit was directed as Hah Nah, the young, cute, asian female in my class. But I digress. Point is no one was supposed to even look at him. His daily routing seemed to consist of being rushed into the rehearsal hall around 10 am and rushed out into a waiting car around 4. I happened to be outside having a cigarrette around 4 one day when he was rushed out to find no car waiting. His young asian assistant (could be Sun Yi, I don't know I haven't really seen any pictures of her) went off to find the car and I did my best to avoid eye contact, as per my instructions. We both stood there for a minute in silence, the minute he said "So are you enjoying yourself here at Atlantic?" I was a little shocked, but said, "Absolutely." He said, "I've always liked this place... it sort of..." And made a wierd gesture somewhere between a shrug and an exultation. Then his car showed up and he got trundled off.

School is going very well. I've become exrtemely close with my group and am very unhappy about the fact that we are going to get shuffled up at the semester. Our group is made up of the old people at school (most of us are over 26) and the all foriegners (we have girls from Britain, Denmark, Isreal, and Australia) and I really like these people and sort of have no interest in having to go through the process of getting to know a whole new group consisting mostly of kids, but I have the feeling that regardless of where we end up, these people are going to be the people I work and play with for the rest of my life...

One of my teachers actually went to school with Kevin Harris. She described him as "one of the greatest human beings she's ever met," to which I could only reply, "You haven't seen him drunk then have you?"

I got through my mid semester evaluations without too much blood. For the most part they told me things I already know that I need to work on, if they told me anything at all. I felt sort of like I was getting the same line I've gotten from many directors before: "Yeah, your doing fine, just keep doin' what yer doin'" except I don't like what I'm doing and I want to improve and if nobody tells me what I'm doing wrong I can't fix it!

Let's see... Oh, I've seen a few more shows for free. Saw Laugh Whore with Mario Cantone. It's basically a stand up comedy show with a little music thrown in. If it was a TV show I would have changed the channel after 2 minutes, but hey, it was free. I saw a preview of A Second Hand Memory which was fantastic. Woody Allen has this thing: If he doesn't star in his movie, he makes his protaganist play him. See Celebrity with Kenneth Branaugh playing Woody Allen. Anyway he did the same thing here. Nicky Katt sort of plays Woody. Micheal McKean was brilliant. Saw 'night Mother. Beautiful, funny, and utterly depressing. It open with a woman coming in to the kitchen to collect old towels and plastic bags so she doesn't mess up her mothers rug when she kills herself an hour and a half later...

Halloween was a blast. I worked all day and stuck around all night. Good thing about working at a bar/restaurant: you can eat and drink for free most of the time, which really helps me stretch that $20 I get to live on each week. The night before, I was sitting outside on the patio with a group of friends from school when suddenly we spotted the Riddler running through the park across the street. About 20 yards behind him was Batman, not the whole movie Batman, but the pudgy Adam West Batman. As they ran into the street Riddler tripped and Batman clobbered him. Batman restrained Riddler as a 250 lb. Spiderman heaved up and began directing traffic. They got a standing ovation. Only in New York...

Oh and on the home front, Teem's dad came out for a visit and took us out to dinner and paid our rent. Thanks are not enough! And Robin's got two jobs now, maybe three. And tonight the film Teem wrote the score for is showing. And Oscar still hates us, but has adapted to life indoors. And we now have a wireless conecttion we are stealing from one of our neighbors. And all is groovy.

I hate to admit it, but I miss SLO. I miss my friends, I even miss my family, I miss Tuesday gaming, I miss gaming at all. I miss McCarthy's. I even miss Denny's. Most of the time I don't post because I use the scant time I have to catch up on what's going on with my friends. I miss you all. And I need to hear from you. And please come visit. And bring Pepper Plant sauce. And Liquor.

So that's it for this month. Maybe I can post more often in Novemeber, maybe not. I have pictures that I will be posting soon. Some from the last Rocky. Some from school. Some from work...

Ahhh, life in the Big City.
