Thankfulness...

Let's talk about thankfulness.

I see some people posting the same things over and over (guilty I guess because I didn't wanna post my true thoughts)

"I'm thankful for..."

In my opinion you can only be truly thankful when you've risen from the bottom and worked your way up. If you've been somewhere in the middle or the top the whole time your thanks ( Read more... )

I don't necessarily think you have to be at the bottom to be able to appreciate good things.. But I know what you're saying..
I'm thankful that I have a disease that is manageable, even though it's not easy or wanted.. I'm thankful I'm alive and able to be a mother because of modern medicine. I don't take any of my working organs for granted.. Cause I know what it's like to have a broken pancreas.

But thanksgiving shouldn't be the only day people admit they are thankful for things in their life. It should be everyday that we say wow I'm thankful I'm alive and woke up this morning, because some people didn't get that chance. I get annoyed at the posts on FB too..

Happy thanksgiving! Hope you have a good one!

Yes you get the idea of my post. I wasn't fully awake when posting. And I'm doing this from my phone.

I'm just trying to say that being thankful for everyday things is not the point. Basically.

I find that I am thankful for a lot of simple things that are taken for granted. I don't think that having been at the bottom makes my gratitude any less than those who haven't. Yes, I may be quicker to appreciate having warm clothing for having been thrown out without any jacket in the snow, but you can appreciate the warm jacket without having had a traumatic experience to go with it. I do think that being thankful isn't the point, but I also believe that bringing to mind thankfulness for these things helps the spirit.
