I enjoyed both stories. The relationship between Jack and Ianto after Meat has always interested me and I've written about it myself. I think Ianto would be unsurprised by Jack's reaction to Gwen not retconning Rhys as she has always been treated differently by Jack right from the beginning. It all really boils down to what exactly there is between them at this stage and have they gone on their date and continued dating. They have, however, had their conversation about Jack loving people and not changing that for the world, which I think, if Ianto was worried about what they have, would make him more secure with Jack and not less. He also is shown initiating a kiss with Jack which for me is important ( ... )

I think you make some wonderful and valid points about Rhys and how he is willing to lay down his life - the only one he has - for Gwen, a women who has (not that he is aware of thanks to her retconing him) betrayed him with Owen - while Jack just stood there and watched as a gun was fired at his own lover, and it was only out of sheer luck that the clip had emptied that Ianto was not killed ( ... )

I love being able to discuss these things as well as RL doesn't really allow me to indulge in such things. And I agree about Ianto not using sex to heal things but I think Jack might think that this is all it takes at times. I also agree about the wedding. I really get annoyed at the ending with Jack and the roses in the Hub and looking at his photos as I think where is Ianto - surely he'd be with him. In my head he's parking the SUV and will be there later.

Well you know what, you can take some of the credit for this fic - I should have put this in the notes (my bad, I will edit tonight!) Because our discussion on the previous fic totally inspired this fic 100%. And I'm really happy that it gave you that reaction because of that.

I think too that perhaps I may need to go back and maybe do a third, see what happens when someone notices that Ianto's things aren't in the locker room... I'm toying with it. I haven't fully decided. I'm currently working on Big Bang for Jack/Ianto so that may be my focus for awhile but someone else made some great valid points about Jack's motivations that I hadn't taken into consideration.

Or maybe I'll leave well enough alone. I'm fairly happy with them now. :)

Yes, yes, yes! I agree with your analysis of the scenes laid out. And I do think that Jack would be heartbroken if something had happened to any of them and he had been unable to prevent it. I think there's been a little Jack bashing going on (not you), and I'm not really down with that! I love my Captain! *grin* saying that, he's not perfect, and I think there may have been a tieensy bit of jealousy on his part, just a bit.

That said... I think it would be Tosh. Don't you? Gwen's a little wrapped up in her own little world, and Owen doesn't care, but Tosh... She looks out for Ianto. I think they have a deeper friendship than is shown in the show - again another thing that bothered me. I think she'd be the one to notice.

I tend to be a bit touchy on the subject of "how much does it really mean for Jack to give his life to protect someone when he knows he can't die?" because that is just so much bullshit in my eyes. He CAN die and it hurts like hell even if he does come back ( ... )
