just a thought

So i just found out that the Virginia Tech Shooter was Asian-American. My friend tells me that Virginians don't care for Asians. Was the massacre instigated by revenge for racism?

The shooting is just so tragic. My thoughts are with all those affected by this awful event.

Not sure what his motive was for shooting his classmates, but I know he did kill his exgf and her RA first in the dorms. Hard to say what really set him off.

It really is a tragedy.

I have cousins in Virginia, and I spent th first nineteen years of my life on the mainland, and I can promise you that racism there is as stupid and unpopular as it is anywhere. I'm sure there are some people in Virginia who don't like Asians, just like there are some people everywhere who need to act like jerks, but in my experience, the majority of mainlanders are good people, just as open and tolerant and friendly as you'd hope.

The shooter was a fucked up person. I don't know his motives and I may never know, and you may be right that revenge for racism, or racism itself, may have had something to do with it. Whatever the case, I doubt very much if Virginians as a collective will treat this racially, which may, I hope, be some little comfort.
