Last night, Caro and I attended the John Mayer/Maroon 5 concert... it was amazing! Maroon 5 went on first, and I love them, but I just got their CD on Sunday for my birthday, so I barely know any of their songs. Anyway, they played all the ones I know (Harder to Breathe, She Will Be Loved, The Sun, This Love, and Sunday Morning). They sounded fantastic, and the lead singer/guitar player dude is so cute. They also played a little tiny bit of Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone. I missed that part, because we was buying t-shirts, but we could hear it.
I bought a yellow Maroon 5 t-shirt that has a picture of a girl on it and says Maroon 5. I also bought a bright blue John Mayer t-shirt with a picture of a tractor on it, and it says John Mayer on the front, and then on the back it says "dig!". They're both very cute. Whilst we were purchasing t-shirts, we became besties with this random girl in line, as she was awesome.
Anyway, Maroon 5's set was pretty short. I think they were the opening band, although I was led to believe that they were coheadlining. Then John Mayer came on. He did a 2 hour set, and played all the songs I love by him, as well as a few songs I hate. And, as Brian Hurley has had my Heavier Things CD for like, 8 months, I barely knew any of the songs he played from that CD. He also did like, an Eric Clapton cover, but I didn't pay attention because I don't know any songs by Eric Clapton. He did a random jazzy, bluesy guitar piece that was really good. He was really weird when he was bantering with the audience. As was Adam from Maroon 5, I guess. John was weirder though. This beetle landed on his guitar and he sang a little song like "hello little beetle friend" and then it flew away and he called it a lesbian. He also told this random story. "There was this book that um, it um, really inspired me. It was called, um, Mr. So-and-So, um, and his magical, um, monkey. And this, uhh, this monkey, it would uhh, swing around on this swing that I'm sure wasn't meant to be um, used as a monkey swing, and it would uhh, sing a song. And that song was called "My Stupid Mouth" ::insert cheering from audience:: and uhh, that whole um, story was uh, made up." It was strange, but made for an entertaining evening.
Caro and I had some crazy convos. Like, did you know that John Mayer was gonna fall in love with me because I was wearing three t-shirts, and he was gonna fall in love with Carolyn cause she had big boobs? I didn't, until last night. :)
The weirdest part to me, was that there were probably 40,000 people there, and this summer, no one can sell concert tickets. I didn't realize that like, John Mayer and Maroon 5 were that popular. Whateva, it was awesome.
