Oh my word, the internet is always among my best and worst of. I know intellectually that I should just relax and use it in moderation, but I'm the type who always things there's a better article or image (or, speaking of fandom, fic) out there. I haven't learned how to deal with the embarrassment of riches our digital lives are now.

The meme's fun, isn't it? I like a bit of stock-taking occasionally. I look forward to seeing your answers! Happy new year, D! M.

This was really interesting and I may have to do it, too. Oh, and I am TOTALLY with you on being surprised at how much we spend on food.

Re: food, honestly, B, I watch everything we spend, and we're not extravagant. But produce especially really adds up (even buying it on sale, strategically). I feel as if food is more expensive than it used to be.

I would *love* to meet you, B! And, vice versa, you should let me know if you're ever in the area. One day--here or there--our paths will cross.

Thank you, thank you! I realized the other day that I hadn't said much, if anything, about the new job here. Partly it's because I love having a group of folks in my life who are unaware of and disinterested in the specifics of the rat race that is my academic life. But I also want you all to know when good things happen, too! So your comments are much appreciate.

It really is. I'm a little disturbed at how closely my happiness is tied to my career, but I suppose that's something I can continue to work on.
