If push comes to shove, there is the old standby "civil disobedience". If we follow the sterling example and refuse to pay taxes, how many of us can they put in jail?
We may yet find out. In the meantime, a friend just sent a picture of herself with some placards outside the Trump Hotel in the Old post Office Building downtown here in DC. That may be a starting point. M.
There really are no words. It's like the clock got set back decades rather than an hour, and now we have to live the horrors of hate and prejudice, and fight for basic rights, all over again. Here's hoping I'm wrong, and Trump is such a loose cannon, I could be, but he thinks he can play Russia, and I really don't think that's gonna happen.
I hope this is a happier day, but with some of the appointments, I dunno. If he gets himself impeached in the first few months, we'll be stuck with Pence, who, while less likely to get us in global trouble, I think, is worse on civil rights. While I don't think Trump has many strong convictions either way, Pence does, and they are horrifying.
Okay, I'm going to ignore everything in your message that didn't have to do with BIRTHDAYS!!! for a day or so and say thanks for the fabulous image! What is it? Fantasy or real building? Should I recognize it?
*big hugs* More to say on the political front soon. A happy, happy holiday to you, S! M.
I thought you'd recognize that! (But then, I tend to think that everyone knows everything I do.) It's the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA, and it was a real home. An amazing and fun place to visit. There are many theories about "why," and of course, they play up the "mysterious." I think the most likely reason for the construction was, as one guide there suggested, Sarah Winchester had more money than she knew what to do with, and she was bored. (And very eccentric!)
Oh my word, I've even BEEN HERE! When I was six or seven, admittedly. (Which is now fast approaching forty years ago.) Yes, I love the Winchester Mystery House! Thank you for reminding me, Smoke. I just spent a happy half hour clicking around the house's website. M.
