You see how I haven't done very much? We had several friends who work for various Catholic organizations over the other day, and they agreed that we were more nun-like than the nuns themselves. :) Ah, well. It's a good life, this nun-like existence. Thanks for reading, S. M.
I had fun reading yours--that's why I did it myself. And no, not too much with the answers at all. I don't know why I'm feeling so cagey today. Usually I can't wait to start telling folks I'm gay

Oh owwwwwwwwww. Part of the reason I was slightly hesitant to hear your story was because I totally bashed my elbow at work yesterday and now it's swollen and hurts like hell and I knew your story would not be a pretty one. I can't believe you had to pull your arm back in place. I mean, I have a high pain tolerance (I walked around on a broken leg for a couple of days before I knew it was broken and I've had an unmedicated kidney stone), but that...that makes me queasy to think about.
And that doctor really didn't need to say that about how he'd do it it differently in front of you! Do you still have issues with it?
Yikes! The pain of banged elbows really lingers, doesn't it? Same with the knees. The body's way of warning us to keep key parts safe, I suppose.
The whole thing was a very hazy, out-of-body experience. Weirdly, other, smaller injuries have hurt more--with the elbow, I think I was on the edge of fainting for a few hours.
Aw, it sounded bad the way I put it, didn't it? The doctor who was criticizing the carpentry in my elbow was one artist talking about another, pointing out differences in style (and technology; some of the metal parts one used but the other didn't). It's the only time I've ever been vaguely interesting to the medical profession, and I hope it never happens again. :) M.
I had a weird stomach thing myself maybe a month ago -- felt sick as a dog for about 8 hours before it mysteriously went away again. Glad you're feeling better.
And sure, what the hey. I have a lot of nos for the second one, but here's the first...

Stomach bugs (or food poisoning) are so odd: you feel SO MISERABLE so intensely and then so much better so quickly. (Or at least I do.) Hopefully we're both done for the season!
Meg Murray! Of course. Meg was precisely the kind of favorite character I *wasn't* thinking about while writing this meme--the kind of character I identified with, rather than the kind of character whose personality filled the page.
Late spring: the precision of your answer made me laugh. Yes. Early spring is just a euphemism for winter.
Hmm...I bet you'll get around to at least one of those dream trips. Hope it's in the cards soon.
Although I rarely post memes, I always read the ones other people post. Some folks are just too nosy. I never knew anyone who claimed Umbridge as a favorite character before. Interesting choice.
Well, in my defense, Umbridge was vivid rather than sympathetic! But I really was struck by her when I first year OotP. She represented a particularly nasty kind of everyday villain we don't seen often enough in books and tv--the kind of women who abuses power but does it with a smile and sickening false modesty.
Actually, all of the DADA instructors were pretty memorable. You've got to hand it to JKR--she created some great antagonists.
I enjoy memes, too. Often I feel as I get a sense of someone through their writing (or art, or comments on fic and art) and I enjoy comparing it against the little slice of self-representation you get in a meme.
I hope you're feeling better today! The answers you gave to the "nosey" questions on the first meme made me laugh - the best jokes often come from taking something at face-value :-).
