Posting challenge 4/17: Happy-making

Apr 03, 2017 22:05

Last week write_out tagged me to post ten things that were making me happy, and, deep in the midst of my self-indulgent spring-semster doldrums, I was stumped--could I think of ten things that were currently making me happy? And then my router broke, and I wasn’t able to get online much at all for a few days, and a proper sense of perspective was restored. ( Read more... )

Love the EagleCam! We saw the duck...well, its foot anyway...the other day :)

Wasn't that duck fascinating? I think I saw it almost whole with both legs, then partly eaten with one leg, then mostly eaten and decapitated. Mostly it's been fish, though.

Did you watch last year, too? They change so quickly. Can't wait to watch these two grow! M.

Oh yes, we saw them fledge and leave the nest and everything :) My mom is obsessed with the EagleCam, so she's constantly sending me updated ("Did you see [whatever] today??!"). She also has an osprey cam and a couple of hawk cams that she watches. It really is about the coolest use of technology ever.

What's making me happy?

Watching the return of spring. And yes, it IS returning, in spite of the recent snow. The goldfinches are turning gold, the summer birds are returning. My daffodils are up a couple of inches. Friends have snowdrops in bloom. Water is running in the streams. The potholes are getting bigger.

Having a warm house.

Having food to eat.

Having a car that is dependable. (Which reminds me, I have to get a slow leak in a tire fixed.)

Having friends who really care about me.

Having family that loves and supports me.

Having good health. Not perfect, but good.

Being able to sleep as much as I want most days.

My dog and my cat.

Watching the birds at the feeders.

Having internet friends to "talk" to.

(That's more than 10, is that OK? :D )

Aw, this list is making me happy! Friends who care, a supportive family, sleeping as long as you'd like, having internet friends...all those are lovely. I shouldn't let being tired get me so cranky. Thank you for this.

I saw via a fellow northern New Englander that you were emerging slowly from winter! Snow very recently, but now some warm weather. We had one day in the 80s this week, so already winter is seeming like a distant memory. How quickly we (well, I), forget from season to season. M.

Right now, what's making me happy is having given the last teacher training of this term, and it was a success, too.

Slowly, vacation is approaching. That's making me happy, too! Meeting various lovely flisties!

Hurrah for the last training! That's great news. And I couldn't think of a better combination than vacation and flisties. M.

Thank you! ♥

I've actually had kind of a rough week, so I do need some hummingbird happiness. :/

Maggie!
I just stopped by LJ because I'm migrating my old stuff over to DW, and I'm so happy to see you! In all this kerfuffle, I'd love to not lose you to the complete past. So that is a thing making me happy! Who are you on Tumblr? I'm thewesternredcedar over there. I'm there now sort of, even though I still hate it and don't know how to use it to keep up with people.
Hope you are doing well. I'd love to catch up sometime!! *hugs*

Cedar!

Hope you set up camp at DW? I'm sad about the LJ situation--in a geopoltical sense and, selfishly, because so much of my own fannish history is over here--but I'm hoping folks reconvene on DW. Tumblr has many lovely features, but conversation facilitation is not one of them.

I'm on tumblr at notquitepetworth. (I had magnetic_pole over there, but I subscribed to too many work-related blogs and got completely overwhelmed. I'm now trying just light, happy things at notquitepetworth.) I'll find and add you.

Drop me a note at some point at magnetic dot pole dot too at gmail? I'd love to hear how you're doing. M.
