Posting challenge 8/17: Rec: Baby Animals in the Wild

So I've had this odd, recurring stomach bug for about two weeks now, which in the end isn't a terrible thing--the semester hasn't started yet, I can afford to spend some time on the couch, and I have managed to watch so much television, you wouldn't believe. All of Broadchurch (excellent first and third seasons, much love for Olivia Colman); all of ( Read more... )

I've been rewatching the Tenth Doctor (Who). Always tries to keep everyone alive, always tries to bring peace. Not exactly restful, but good escapism. The blog I spend a lot of time on, which is mostly gay issues, and politics and news relating to such, has been stressful lately. The comment section is frequently the best part, as Joe gives almost total free rein. The commenters police themselves, mostly, as there are sometimes thousands of comments a day. And lately, there has been frequent posting of pics of puppies and kittens in the comments, just to keep everyones blood pressure under control.

Some kittens and puppies would do us all a lot of good. Yikes. This past weekend has made me feel slightly sick.

You know, for a long time I hadn't watched DW because I thought I wasn't a sci fi fan, but now I've watched a significant amount of Star Trek and enjoyed it. Maybe my tastes have changed? I should give it a try. David Tennant's the tenth doctor, isn't he? I enjoyed him in Broadchurch. M.

This weekend has been both terrifying and deeply saddening.

I'm not a scifi fan either, except for Star Wars - of which I'm a BIG fan - and I do enjoy Star Trek as well. Just loved Spock. I was reluctant to get into the Doctor because I knew I'd be spending HOURS on line figuring out who was what and how and when, but the person who sent me the discs was a huge fan of both DW and HP, which is where I knew her from, so... it happened. Yes, David Tennant is the tenth Doctor. I admit that Nine and Ten are the only Doctors I followed each episode of. After that, I lost my supply of (probably) pirated discs, and I didn't get it on my tv, and Matt Smith had no appeal to me, so.... But the new Doctor is to be a woman, so I may have to get into it again. The only other thing I've seen DT in is Casanova, and Oh, My!

I finally had to turn off the radio and the news when I heard T's press conference today. There's being informed and there's masochism.

What's going to happen to all of us, Smoke?
