Also - we now have two kittens... TWO! :)
I am in cuteness overload! I promise there will be pictures soon. We can't get them to stay still for too long to snap many.
The move is over, now we're just unpacking... and unpacking... (and playing with kittens) and unpacking
Things were a bit stressy last week regarding my work visa (yes, we're still going through craziness with that - honestly, the money that we've had to shell out and the time this has taken - I totally don't understand how people can go through this the harder ways - and in a way, I have more of an understanding now about why there are so many 'illegal' immigrants here... sheesh!). We've got most of it sorted out, I'll have fingerprints and one last interview to go, and hopefully those will be in just a couple of weeks.... GAH! I just want it to be finished with...
Financial issues have strained our christmas budget, and I'm a touch worried about that. We've been invited to Christmas with friends out here, and it stresses me a bit that gifts have been bought for us already and we may not be able to return the gesture right away. They're good friends though, maybe we'll have a late-january gift giving day with them once our monies are back on track.
umm... kittens! hee...
Okay - I guess I could write a bit about them and get on with the pics later.
Colin surprised me last thursday with a fuzzy little ball of cuteness. He showed up in a carrier with a sibling, and it was my job for the day to pick one of the two (the other was going to our friend). OMG, was that ever the hardest task in the world... how do you pick?!
Anyhoo - I ended up picking the entirely black little male kitten (as opposed to a black with white throat/paws female - which was SOOOO cute) as he was the first one to purr for me. He was a little less rambuncious than she was, and had the cutest little mew..
In the meantime - I had been speaking with the SeattleAnimalControl about their adoption program and services and things after seeing some profiles of some awfully cute kittens on petfinder.com (Colin and I had come to the decision that we'd get a kitten soon, and I was just doing some research, as this is my first not-a-fish besides the infamous "SNaH"). That same thursday morning I received a call from AnimalControl and ended up being somewhat interviewed over the phone - when really all I wanted was info about their upcoming kitten adoption day (a monthly happening in a community centre downtown). After the grilling, I was asked if it would be okay to pass on my number to the foster mum of one of the kittens I was asking about, and I said sure. About an hour after being surprised by the new kitten, I got a call from 'Roberta' the foster mom, and Colin and I had a serious talk - about a second kitten. The next day I was off on an adventure into the city to meet with Roberta and the little kitten in question. By 6pm friday night, Colin and I had a second kitten.
So, our first little guy is almost 9 weeks - is absolutely tiny! He has two modes - crazy hyper retardo kitten mode and sungglebug mode. :) The very first night he was here he climbed straight into bed with us and curled up into my shoulder/neck. He's the sweetest little guy, and also rather retarded at times... He's completely black with a few white hairs on his throat and in his ears. We named him Inigo.
And the second one is a little older - we're guesstimating about 13 weeks now, is already neutered, is also completely black (with smaller whiskers than Inigo). He's a tad on the skittish side, but who wouldn't be after being abandonned at a young age, and is seriously shy, but we're working on that. He likes to hide under our bed, but if you can get close to him to pick him up - he's a serious lap cat. He'll purr like a motorboat. We named him Miah. :)
I'll post pics soon.
*hugs*
