I hate battles

I really, REALLY hate them. This is not nearly as good as it could be... Oh well.

Turning on the view-screen, Megatron opened his mouth to address Shockwave. His mouth stayed silently open as Megatron processed that there was no-one there. That was odd, Shockwave all but lived in front of that screen... "Shockwave? Shockwave, where are you? Report!"

Clicking came from the screen, and the three Seekers on the bridge stopped what they were doing and looked at the screen in amazement. There was movement at the very bottom of the screen, something small, and purple, and a single yellow optic... "Shockwave?" Megatron asked quietly, earning frantic clicking from the small form. The small mech squirmed and wiggled, and suddenly the screen went dark, though the sound remained.

The bridge crew could hear a small, fearful whine as doors opened, and then the whine died away and two femme began to speak, femmes from the voices, at least. Femmes meant Autobots, and no-one really noticed how agitatedly the Seeker's wings began shifting as the femmes wondered aloud where Shockwave was. The femmes finally concluded not to question good luck, and the last thing heard was and order to contact Optimus and tell him the space bridge was theirs. Directed after that, there was a large popping sound on the bridge of the Nemesis as air rushed into the empty space where Skywarp and Starscream had been standing.

"Waiting for the 'bots to reach it?" Skywarp asked, shifting to alternate mode and getting his wings under him barely above the ocean. His teleportation had taken them above the water, but not by that much.

"Activate it ourselves and trust the femmes to be stupid," was Starscream's reply as he repeated Skywarp's maneuver and headed off. Skywarp didn't argue, simply following.

It was beyond simple to get to the space bridge, since Starscream knew where it was, and neither Seeker was surprised when it activated flawlessly. "These are the femmes who've been successful against Shockwave for vorns?" Starscream scoffed as they landed on Cybertron and the doors opened.

The 'fight' couldn't even be called that. The femmes were taken completely by surprise, and the Seekers were there to protect and help a sparkling. As Skywarp moved the two unconscious femmes someplace they wouldn't be in the way, Starscream began looking for Shockwave. He did this by standing in the middle of the room and humming, screechy voice perfect for these harmonics.

There was soft, worried clicking from one end of the room, and Starscream smoothly turned to face it, humming taking a more soothing and reassuring tone. The clicking came again, with a hopeful tone to it, and Starscream nodded. Another humming joined his, this one a little lower, as Skywarp came to stand next to him, task finished. Once again, neither Seeker was surprised when a purple blur streaked from the wall to Starscream, clicking frantically. Starscream cooed softly, and Skywarp reached down to pet the small thing.

"Amazing... Shockwave's a sparkling!" Skywarp murmured.

Starscream nodded, petting Shockwave and watching him slowly go into recharge. "Poor thing... I wonder how long he's been here alone... I'm gonna need you to keep the Autobot's off my back, 'Warp."

"Root or alt?" the black and purple jet asked, nodding.

"Root," Starscream answered. "More maneuverable, and they can't accidentally hurt him if they do take him from me. Alt, the shattered glass could..."

"Ssh..." Skywarp embraced Starscream, stroking the white Seeker softly. "They're not going to get him and they're not going to hurt him. I'll keep them well away from you, don't you worry. Just get him back home, TC will love to see him, and when the heat gets too much, I'll warp."

Starscream nuzzled Skywarp and shook once, mood visibly changing from almost depressed to the more usual determination. "The sooner we go, the easier it will be," he pointed out, activating the bridge and then hurrying into position.

For all they had hoped, the Seekers hadn't expected to be so lucky as to avoid the Earth-based Autobots entirely. Optimus was there, and Prowl, and Red Alert, and Jazz. Starscream stayed long enough to process that information and then took off, heading upwards as fast as he dared while Skywarp screamed and threw himself at Optimus.

Dodging shots, Starscream held Shockwave and mentally cursed the Autobots. Skywarp was teleporting freely, and so far managing to mostly hold off Optimus, Prowl, and Jazz, but Red Alert... Red Alert had seen the sparkling and was pursuing Starscream. The Seeker's root mode slowed him, but he would have been hit and likely grounded already if he'd been in alternate.

"Get out of my way!" Starscream yelled finally, which only woke Shockwave, who began crying. Spinning, Starscream managed to get a shot off, hitting Red Alert with his null-ray and finally ending the pursuit. He didn't care about the bemused, peaceful look he'd left his enemy wearing, right now all that mattered was getting away, even if it was abandoning Skywarp. The sparkling was more important.

He was almost to the Nemesis when there was a shiver of air beside him. Skywarp looked very much the worse for wear, but he only glanced at Starscream and smiled. The docking needle lifted, and the two Seekers gratefully landed, not surprised to see it was Thundercracker working the controls. As soon as the blue jet finished the sequence to make the needle retract, he was running towards them.

"Did you get him?"

"Yes, TC. We got him. This is one sparkling the Autobot's won't take from us!"
