My Favorite Albums of 2007

So, this is probably the first year that I have really truly followed music. Over the course of the year, I've had the pleasure of listening to close to 100 albums, which is a lot for me. In my opinion, this has been a great music year. There have been some really interesting albums released, as well as the big Radiohead suprise of the year. ( Read more... )

Dang! You did listen to a lot of stuff this year. Highly impressed by the diversity.

Did you not like the Jay Z album? I heard an Electrolane song and it was great.

I will check out none of these songs, as I expect to see some of them on a mix in the not so distant future.

I take back what I said about "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga." I have listened to it almost three times last night and today, and I find myself tapping along and bobbing my head to every song. Maybe I should reword it like this. There are no OUTSTANDINGLY AMAZING tracks on the album (aside from maybe "Finer Feelings," that song BLOWS my BONE) but every song is at the bare minimum, in the words of Kevin Trepus "good to very good." Every song. Which makes it a mighty fine solid record. After these past few listens, it will probably rank higher than I initially intended.

A big part I think in what makes the songs good is the PRODUCTION HOLY SHIT. Everything, absolutely everything sounds great. No, amazing. And being a drummer myself, shit, those drums sound amazing, especially the snare drum, and even, as much as I hate them, the toms. And all the added percussion (mainly shakers), damn baby, makes me want to shake (pun intended) a groove. Jim Eno, you are a real dude.
