SAG about covers it

The SAG Awards were a big old snoozefest, weren't they? I kept waiting for a big surprise, but it didn't really happen.

Okay, Little Miss Sunshine winning Best Ensemble Cast over The Departed was sort of a surprise. I haven't seen LMS, but I can't imagine a better overall cast than The Departed. Alec Baldwin and Martin Sheen were the minor ( Read more... )

I didn't think LMS would live up to expectations, but it was great. Really funny, really strong characters, and a clever script.

The Departed did have a really good cast, but I think LMS had a much more diverse cast, age- and sex-wise.

From the results, it looks like the SAG awards basically matched the Globes.

I read the script like 5-6 years ago when everybody thought it was the bee's knees . . . but then it was in turnaround so long, I thought it would never get made. I'm glad the movie turned out well b/c it doesn't always turn out that way.

I was so excited by The Office I didn't notice most of the rest.

I agree about Matt Damon, however. The thing with that movie is EVERYONE was so awesome, you have to give the awards to the less subtle roles.

I was excited about The Office too!

I was sort of afraid that Ugly Betty would win in a minor upset, but I'm glad the Dunder-Mifflin folks got their due.

Feel it, feel it!!

Damon had a great year in two great roles, but he was totally overshadowed in the Year of the Leo.

But I don't think Matt is too upset. He's had more than his fair share of acclaim and I don't think he's one to begrudge others their time in the spotlight. Plus, it's not like Leo doesn't deserve his kudos because he totally does.

Mark, too, for that matter. It's just funny that of the entire fabulous cast of past Oscar winners and nominees, Mark Mark is the only one to score an acting nom.

Hee - enjoyed your review. I didn't watch this as I've been really ill this weekend but I did check out who won this morning and it's pretty much a repeat of all the other award shows.

Jackie Earle must be living a surreal life right now. Whoever gave him his second chance - what was it in All the King's Men I think? certainly deserves his eternal gratitude. I find his story so fascinating, that he hung in there and never gave up. Also, as you say, Marky Mark up for an Oscar. Who would have thought?

And I agree, Mirren has won everything hasn't she? Callit the Helen Mirren show or the Year of the Queen.

Anyway, thanks for the commentary.
