Battlestar Galactica

Mar 06, 2007 19:08

I'm many days behind on LJ and I'm trying to catch up.

I haven't read any of the BSG reactions but I'm looking forward to seeing what people thought about "Maelstrom."

But I have a quick question.

BSG fans, help me out. )

the amazing race, bsg

I took that scene as Xena reacting only to the "Final Five."

When she saw one of them she did the whole "I'm sorry, I didn't know," meaning that she had treated that person badly without knowing that he/she was a Cylon. At least that was how I interpreted that scene, but I could be wrong.

It seems to me we could see there were five figures and that Deanna addressed one.

Without giving away any direct spoilers, can someone reassure me that I should keep watching?
Unless Ron D. Moore is a completely incompetent storyteller, which I don't think he is, he would not create flashing neon signs about Kara's Superspecial Destiny and then have her die an utterly pointless death. That's not a destiny. There's more to that story. They're doing their damndest to convince us she's really really DEAD, but even if she is, that doesn't mean we won't see her again in some form or fashion. Cylon? Goddess? Burnt or dead?

Thank you!

That's what I was thinking also, but it's very helpful to read this from someone who doesn't live in my head. ;)

I'm sort of afraid to read the reactions to the episode, because I know a lot of people don't like her and I don't think I can bear to read a lot of "good riddance to that skank" type of comments.

A BSG without Kara (and Katee) is not a BSG that seems very appealing to me.

No, unless her special destiny is being the dying hero which leads the people to earth, in which case, she could stay dead.

I don't trust him at all.

THAT SAID, magnolia, I think you should keep watching. There are only something like three episodes left, then the series is off the air for months and months and months. I would imagine by the end of the season, we'll have a better idea about Starbuck.

She's about 90% of the reason I watch the show. I love a lot of them, but I don't love any of them the way I love Kara Thrace.

(Oh, and if she's a Cylon, I'm gonna be pissed.)

Thank you! This is also very helpful.

I didn't realize there were only about 3 episodes left. Where does the time go?

And I don't love anyone like I love Kara either. I'm glad I'm not the only one. She's a fascinating and compelling character and I relate to her probably a lot more than I should.

Which is why I will also be majorly PISSED if she's a Cylon. She's the most human character on the show imho.

What Sunil said.

Also, she did get obsessed with something looking like the Eye of Jupiter (which, if I understand it correctly is the "path to Earth") and then FLEW INTO something that looks like the "path to Earth." Oh, and she's been obsessed with it her whole life. I think there's definitely more to this, and I'm not sure it even means she's a cylon and/or not dead. There are all sorts of ways they could go with this. Remember the abrupt Occupation right turn? What if we hit another?

(I'm pretty unspoiled at this point, btw.)

I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. And I think Starbuck is an important part of the show.

Yes, you're right, of course.

I think I suffer from a limited imagination sometimes. I was too freaked out at the thought of losing Kara from the show to consider the possibilities. But that talk of where their photos should go on the "dead wall" made it feel so final.

Oh, they did all kinds of little things like that: Adama and Kara going through their "nothing but the rain" speil and Kara giving Adama the figure head. Lee and Kara saying they were back where they started. And on and on.

I haven't seen my episode of BSG yet so I'm skipping over that but down to your amazing race question - I am. I love TAR. And I just discovered it this year so I had a lot of catch up to do. I've seen Season 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 so I don't know all the racers but I actually like a lot of them. My favorite is Danny and Oswald but I also like the Guidos and the Beauty Queens. I don't mind Terri and Ian and Joyce and Uechenna. I really hated David and Mary and are glad they are gone. I can't wait for Charla and Mirna to join them. I don't mind Rob and Amber that much since they are good racers, I'm just tired of their smug attitude. I also loathe Eric and Danielle.

That over the top dramatics and the fake accents are so awful they are kind of funny. But I'm hopeful this week will be the last of them. Really hopeful.

You've seen TAR1 and you still like the Guidos?? You are more forgiving than I. ;)

Have you seen the Colin & Christie season? I think it's replaying on GSN right now. That is must-see TV.

You're right that Mirna and Shmirna and their horrible accents are so awful that they are kind of funny. But overall, they are more annoying than funny. Mirna really rubs me the wrong way.

Yes I saw season 1 and I still like the Guidos. I can't help it. I'm a natural sucker for teams that are a bit snarky and yet kind of fun. And I've since read a lot about them and I don't know. I like them.

I haven't seen the season with Colin and Christie and don't have GSN. It would cost extra to get it on my cable so I can't justify the expense. Though I'm really jonesing for it.

And Yes, I really dislike Mirna and Smirna. They are horrible.

Ha! Unsurprisingly, yes I watch TAR:All Star, yes I love Romber, yes I love Cha Cha Cha, yes I loathe the faux-russian peasant and her sidekick, but I actually also kid of like Teri & Ian and the Guidos this time around because, well, they don't take any nonsense from the likes of the lame-o cousin-os. I've always liked the BQs too, but I'm sort of apathetic about them in this field of much more exciting (Romber! Yay!) or infuriating (afjidjmirnacharlakajdfodi).

I'm behind on life. I've been swamped for weeks.
