FNL Lives!

May 11, 2007 11:57

I so want to be mad at NBC for screwing up The Office last night and going over (damn it!) . . . but then they go and renew Friday Night Lights, so I can't.

Thank you, NBC, for bringing us another year of the Dillon Panthers.

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose.

If you aren't watching FNL, you should be. (And this is from someone who HATES

friday night lights, the office

I thought it had already been renewed. Either way, yay!

Oops, maybe they had. But today was the first I heard about it being a done deal.

Either way, yay!!

I need a Saracen icon. And a Riggins icon. And a Coach Taylor icon. Blerg.

I think its possible that I just assumed it was renewed. I tend to avoid the sites where I would find that kind of information. I am avoiding fandom like the plauge latley. =/

No, there was an order for six scripts, but no official renewal. It looked good, but no one expected a full-season renewal right off the bat. People were expecting 13, with an option for the back 9, like with VM.

I'm so happy for all the FNL fans. I plan on giving it another shot. I was watching far too much tv this fall and the pilot just didn't do much for me. The football doesn't bug me, I like football. The characters just didn't engage me during the pilot. But then, I didn't like the BSG pilot the first time I watched it either.

(On the other hand Buffy, x-philes, Beauty and the Beast, VM, Gilmore Girls, Angel - there are a ton of pilots I have liked.)

I liked the Pilot, but I wasn't "in love" with it. I actually put off watching it a long time, and when I finally got around to it, it took some time to grow on me.

But I'm from the small town South, so I know these people. And this show gets it right. Which may be good or bad, depending on your point of view.

FNL is so damn *real.* Which may be why it's not for everyone. It can be sort of a downer at times, especially with Street's story.

Don't worry. They will after a few episodes, trust me. It's a wonderful pilot, stylistically, but it doesn't make you love the characters immediately. It just shows them to you as they are at that time, and then you get to know them better as the series progresses.

Really? I hate football too. It's why I've been holding out.

I guess I have to watch it, though. You guys are never wrong.

I HATE football. Hate it, hate everything about it. That's why I held out on watching FNL for a long time also.

But it's about so much more than football. It's about people. People who love football, yes, but it's still about the people. Give it a few episodes, and keep an open mind, and it might surprise you.

It's just so amazingly well done.

The Office going over?! Now I'm wondering if I missed something.

Great news about FNL! This season was amazing. Connie Britton esp. deserves Emmy recognition IMO.

I'm told that the only part that went "over" was everybody singing on the bus over the credits.

I didn't see that because NBC told my TiVo that the show was already over. Dangit.

Yay FNL! Of course, this does mean there will be second season growing pains, complete with ridiculous fandom wanking. And the third season (if we're so lucky) the fandom will implode. But still! We'll get more Dillon and Coach and Tami and Matt and Smash and .... !

Oh, of course, the inevitable backlash will come eventually. But I don't care, I love these characters and I know I will until the very end.
