The Answer, My Friend ...

Today was Mother’s Day and I headed down to the beach with mine. The feel of sand between my toes and the cool gulf water were refreshing. Mom and I braved the warnings of rough surf and jellyfish and had a great time. At the end of the day, I have a bit of sunburn and feel a bit drained from the travel, but can say it was definitely worth it ( Read more... )

i don't know that it's so easy to become a librarian anymore. i went to apply for a low-level position at the huntsville public library and they just happened to mention that all applications would be kept on file for six months. those that included a master of library science on their resume would bump the application holding time to a year. needless to say, i wasn't encouraged to look for further work in there.

Perhaps it's like a secret society. You must not have gotten the handshake right.

i think we've all had early dylan experiences since our early childhood. or maybe just you and me. even if you dont like the voice, the songs covered by others are pretty widespread, and since he introduced the beatles to lsd, he's partially responsible for all the songs they wrote after revolver. he's playing in birmingham at city stages friday night. i would go but i just realized i'll be in connecticut. oh well.

p.s. guitar-playing librarians rock the planet(i kindof play and i worked at la biblioteca de hoover for a couple years).

p.p.s. welcome to livejournal

Thanks for the welcome, Dennis! Yeah, Dylan's voice is definitely an acquired taste. Dylan covers can be great. Have to say that I love Axl's Knocking on Heaven's Door ...

so you're the famed ashley. good to put a face with the name.... wait...

i envy your elementary library experience. my elementary librarian was the dreaded mrs. scrimsher (i'm sure i misspelled it). she surely was dead 10 years before she retired. every once in a while she would read to us, but heavens no on the guitar playing, and bob dylan? aghast! welcome to LJ

Thanks for the welcome - Am glad to have at least one enviable elementary school experience. Coming from a little backwoods school in Deatsville, the town just adjacent to (no kidding) Slapout, Alabama, I'm not sure that I have too many. Hehe. Just cows and cotton fields round here ... though someone, somewhere may envy that. Haha, maybe?
