Adam's Update - Lack of Posting

Dec 25, 2004 11:59

I just realized that I haven't posted anything in over a month, and alot has happened in that time frame that I'd like to share.

1) School's still been shitty. The administration have made some really dumb decisions about simple things that should have been done in a more logical fashion. Example - The LIS (co-superintendent) of my district came around and was upset that many doors to classrooms had heavy plexiglass coverings over the windows, along with faded glass replacements within the windowframe. These were installed a few years ago because we had a large number of classroom windows being broken repeatedly by students, and the custodians were sick of replacing them constantly. So because this dumbass said take em down, the principal told the custodians to do just that, with the mindset that they would be replaced by regular, see-through windows. But instead of taking down the windows on a door-by-door process, the custodians were told to take them ALL down, and the windows would get replaced whenever the custodians would get to them. What did this mean for me? Basically my classroom doors now had easy access to any student who felt like vandalizing my room, or just to stick their head through and disturb my classroom. It was an annoying 3 days of that before the windows were finally fixed on a Saturday.

2) I had a great Thanksgiving (told you it's been a while) with Karen's family, and that weekend, went to Andrew's sister's wedding, and had a Meet-and-Greet Engagement party at my house the following day. Many people on my family's side had never met Karen before, and this was a great opportunity to do so. It was alot of fun, and Karen and I wound up getting many things off of our registries. I was glad, Rob, Andrew, Alex, Julie, and Mike were able to come by and join in the festivities.

3) The first night of Hannukah was the same night as the 2 year anniversary of a Significant Amout of Time Together for Karen and I. I went into the city, picked her up from work, and after over 1/2 hour of circling her neighborhood, finally found a parking spot and had a great evening together. Karen got me an iPod, which is something I'd wanted for a long time, with the instructions that it was not to be reciprocated in any way. So far, I had abided.

4) I signed up for a graduate program last month. It's an administration program sponsored by the College of St. Rose in Albany, but given down here all over New York. I was worried I wouldn't get in, because I had sent the application the day before it was due (Nov. 24), and that I might have messed up on a writing portion of an interview for it. But alas, I found out last Tuesday that I got in. Let me tell you, I was jumping for joy, literally. Main reason, it's a really cheap program when compared to many other schools ($700 a class), and just as acredited as any other school in the state. When it's completed, I'll have my administrative license, which means I could be the big bossman of a school one day. "Principal Monaco" has a nice ring to it. The only downside is that the classes are basically every Saturday from January 8 through the following year (except the summer) from 8:30 - 4. It kinda sucks, but the pay raise I'll get will be well worth it later on in life.

5) I'm just today starting to get over a cold I've had for the last 2 weeks almost. Thank god for that. Especially since I'm going to spend it with my cousins today for Christmas, and I'd hate to get their little children sick.

6) I fucked my car's windshield wipers up. Last Monday it was freezing cold, and when I was attempting to clean off the ice, I accidentally messed up the mechanisms that control the blades. I have to get it fixed this Tuesday.

7) Karen's away in Chicago for her annual convention which she runs until Thursday. I miss her so much. I could have gone to Chicago to be close to her, but I'd barely get a chance to see her. She's gonna be working like crazy, and would have no real time for me, other than me being there for moral support. And since we're not married, we wouldn't be able to stay in the same room together, because it would look bad to the people she works with and the kids attending the convention.

8) On New Year's Eve, Karen and I are having a little dinner party. Most of my close friends will be there, and it should be alot of fun.

Anyway, it's been a wild month as you can read. but in the end, it was all well worth it. To all my friends, on this very happy holiday, I love you all, and my life would not be the same if it wasn't for you guys and gals. And to Karen, I love you so much, and can't wait to be your husband.

I'll try not to make my updates so infrequent in the future. :)
